sorry about the lack of photo's I'll go back and insert them shortly- I've lost the camera battery charger
Got the bolts out with Boltgrip or some such thing- came straight out without any issues- fits around the bolt. legendary. Their expensive but reusable but don't try to get the bolts back...
Thanks John, Bruno
Having electrics gave me a bit of much needed progress so Im full steam ahead again
- Basically had to do a crash course in electrons with the emphasis on crash.
John there's heaps- i.e 7-8cm's sticking out- I drilled it then inserted the extractor bit - then snapped it...
So pipes are practically back on at least enough for testing purposes..the frickn mounting bolt is grabbing as I work it in, an I don't want to strip the threads- i need one of those threading tools to get rid of the burrs. there is also two broken bolts still... both sheared off and the...
Nah I stared angrily at it till it gave in and started.
It starts every time now- although I've got to get the old pipes back on till I get some new ones- Moto something- they're designed to fit and Im not to worried about sports performance on this beast.
As soon as I've got some time this is...
Everybody says shit like that...damm...add a little detail for me..this is a learning project
ahh actually don't worry..I looked it up. I don't think it was running enough to heat up at all, maybe 15 seconds max.. and it seems like the rapid cool down is what warps them. I wasn't actually...
Ok..didn't take too long.lol..Ive managed to get her started. Here I was imagining a nice quiet burble and she kicked into life like a banshee from hell with the idle adjuster at max and no exhaust pipes...I can't hear a frickn thing except for ringing and Im sure going from nothing to flat out...
ouch just hit the bottom
Just stripped the tank..its got Bondo (bog, holefilla) holes in it, so there goes the idea of keeping it steel.Im gonna paint it the original blue with bare metal side stripes.
Electrical is driving me crazy and is slooooww so I;m gonna finish sanding the tank and...
awesome ...dp9 and alpha
I have three wires from the interlock..going to diode and eventually IC.
If I cross them will that do the trick? At the IC?
I don't have the interlock connector so I have to work from the other end
also
my starter solenoid has positive- negative which are reading as...
hmm ..got power everywhere. new starter solenoid etc
The line into the run/stop switch unit is reading battery voltage on the way in and then there's a voltage drop on the way out
12.6-11.6 but when you hit the starter it jumps back up to full voltage
a)this means that the starter switch is...
yep well...after a long and frustrating wait, a guy in scotland named Kojaycat has sent a wiring diagram to me via an aeroplane. Now I can see just how bad I've fucked everything up while drunkenly snipping away instead of waiting...looks like a lot of work ahead of me but with my other bike at...
yeah I did think that Alpha Dog man, each to their own, I've already worked out the commute from your place is too long even for you, which is good really coz if i had to listen to you in real life I't'd drive me crazy..
but you've probably got a point-I thought a broken 1984 z was a priceless...
Thiiings are moving...
Just got some wiring books in the mail and now have a process to try and isolate whatever the issue is with the wiring. Gonna measure voltage drop through the coils and IC. I suspect its the IC or the dreaded invisible lockout switches as I've replaced the starter...
Thanks Bruno
You my friend are a legend
the problem I have is that there is chopped and missing stuff everywhere- the circuit you sent me is gold and I'll use it- but I'm missing
the cutout switch for the handlebars and the cutoutswitch for the stand
as well as various wires to the diodes and...
