Love the idea of engines having their own forum. I'll put the rest of my (re)build in the cafe section. So here goes:
2 seasons ago at a parade my local club was in, my bike puked a ton of oil out of the top of the motor. Not sure what happened. Maybe a return got blocked? I don't know, but I...
Not sure what is causing this, but when I'm going down the road it's puking oil through the breather. It did it again on the way to work this morning. I'm going to put a quart of oil in it and get it home, but I'm stumped on what my be causing this.
Any ideas???
Thanks
I'm rebuilding a 68 CL450 and the wiring harness is hacked to pieces. I've looked on ebay, but those look pretty rough as well. Has anyone here created a new one? I'm wondering where you can buy wire, etc etc?
Thanks
It seems like I saw a comment about painting wrapped pipes here, but I could be crazy? Are you supposed to paint your wraps? I wrapped my pipes (my 1st time doing so) and didn't paint them. Just soaked them in water and had a buddy help. Oil always gets on the left pipe when I take the cover off...
I've seen the on a ton of choppers. Usually it's 2 brass fittings welded(?) into the top and bottom of the tank with a clear tube in between, so you can tell how much gas you have.
Always thought they were slick and I want to incorporate one in a build someday, but I've never seen a good (read...
I'm getting ready to paint my CL450 frame and I've heard a lot of good things about epoxy paint's toughness, but I have a couple questions.
1. Do I need to use ANY primer for epoxy paint or can I shoot it straight onto the metal?
2. Do I need to use etching primer or will regular work? The...
Setting the timing on my cb500 twin.
I get the marks lined up with my timing light and tighten everything down.
Blip the throttle a couple of times and the right cyl cuts out.
Around the 4k mark my timing light cuts off. I'm ASSuming because there's no spark in the wire.
Took the points plate...
I lucked into a set of 360 carbs with intact diaphragms, but they seem to be stuck to the carb body. The carbs look like they've been sitting for a while. I sprayed the slide with some PB Blaster and they've been sitting over night. I'm worry about ripping the dia's when I try to remove them...
Just picked up this sweet baby for 20 bucks. The foam on the inside is turning to dust and leaving my head full of it.
I'm in the process of putting new foam in the top, but can any of you give me some tips for the side foam? \
I'm planning on blowing it out with my shop vac then laying down a...
It makes no sense to me. It seems like the paint would crack and flake off the first time they articulate.
Can someone shed some light on this? I'm getting ready to start a cb360 and the springs are toast.
...which one do you think is the most affordable for a cafe/rat bike?
I've heard the stories about the Kaw Mach IV (and how much those things cost)
I've seen a couple RD350's sprinkled around CL and ebay and I guess my question is, what's the most common triple?
I'm looking for a whole setup, the bottles, cart, everything. It doesn't have to be top of the line, It'll be used for small projects around my shop. I'm in the Louisville, KY area.
Any tips, links, etc. are greatly appreciated.
Mike
