I just used the cheap headlight brackets that are for sale everywhere. They barely fit the forks but with some bending they seem fine.

It's coming right along, I'm not too sure on the clubmans though. With the headlight lowered and new gauges it might change it. Good to see another XJ out here though. This might be a no-no but you can check out my cafe-ish build here. I went a different direction...
I think I'm going to try and rivet the upholstery directly to the metal, need to try and find some wider rivets though. Here is a rough idea of what the seat is going to look like, it will be covered in a nice looking "vintage" brown color marine vinyl.

So, I finished my seat pan contouring, it's not pretty but sits alright on the frame. My original pan was to use some wood for the foam/upholstery to stick and staple to and then attach that to the seat pan. I was hoping to leave it flat in the rear section of the pan but it wasn't enough...

Check the oil with the bike running? Could you see it in the oil sight before changing it? Maybe you filled the oil filter as well and the level is low?
All simple solutions so you probably have gone through them but sometimes we forget!
