CB550 front end on a Triumph hardtail bobber build... front wheel questions??

Re: CB550 front end on a Triumph hardtail bobber build... front wheel questions? I think I found at least one answer... keep the front hub and lace it to a 21" drop center rim... like this dude - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdXJTkv1Qvo

CB550 front end on a Triumph hardtail bobber build... front wheel questions??

So my buddy bought a Triumph chopper/bobber roller and the PO used a stock CB550 tree/fork/wheel setup in front and it's actually pretty cool as it is. He's looking to run a 21" (or larger) front wheel with no front brake and I suppose someone out there has chopped/bobbed a CB550 or knows what...

I could really use some help with my CB550

Where do you have the throttle rest screw sitting? I have a 76 CB550 with pods and 4/1 open exhaust, stock jetting (with rebuilt carbs)... I choke it for only a few seconds to start it then casually reduce the choke off... but to keep it idling, I have to screw IN the dial on the top right of...

Its a start... My 76 CB550-4. Not quite Cafe yet but just wanted to show it off

Re: Its a start... My 76 CB550-4. Not quite Cafe yet but just wanted to show it Nah, it was near Clarksville, MD from the Baltimore Craigslist. He apparently got it from somewhere else and flipped it to me so maybe he got it off the Pittsburgh CL? It didnt have a title so he did the whole...

Its a start... My 76 CB550-4. Not quite Cafe yet but just wanted to show it off

Picked it up on Craigslist locally, wasnt running properly, looked ridiculous, figured I'd do a few things to it to get it up and running for the rest of the season then I'll probably do a ground up on it over the winter. Here it is in the meantime... Before: Now: Video: <object...

Pardon my ignorance on TIRES but... 76 CB550K

I've been told my 76 CB550 is supposed to be a bike that uses Tube Type tires... but the tires that are on the bike now say Tubeless. I am assuming they ARE tubeless type tires with a tube inside? The front is a 100/90-19 Dunlop Gold Seal and the rear is a Dunlop also (not a gold seal) 110/90-18...

    Baltimore/Frederick Maryland...

I want to go to there ... LOL 550 is up and roaring. I'm psyched to roll anywhere. If I'm gonna go to Belair, I'd rather take the backroads until I get some new non-dry-rotted tires. Something in me feels safer at slower speeds on twisties than higher speeds on highways haha. I'm probably...

    kick start vs. electric starter

crazypj is right... when you stall or die or anything that causes you to cut off in traffic, it sucks to have to get back to neutral and re-kick it... but I also only start my bike with the kickstart. It preserves a ton of battery life. If you've got another bike for commuting or everyday...

From Vegas. Working on a 1975 CB500t (twin)

Welcome to the forum :) FYI, changing the air filter setup on the twins isnt as easy as it is on the "fours"... Youre most likely going to have to re-jet the carbs to suit the free flowing filter. The carbs on those bikes are great once tuned with proper jetting for the intake and exhaust... The...

Questions about the Battery/Charging system in my 76 CB550K...

Thanks. FYI, I havent had a single problem in 3 days of riding (starting) now... all with the electric puch button starter too and after riding 10-15 minutes, letting it sit and cool down then measuring the battery voltage, its around 11.5v. I do plan to get a new battery asap but it seems like...

    carb bodys cleaning

I know you said "Shy of ultrasonic cleaner" but my local guy ran it through 4 times in the ultrasonic cleaner and it was $25... the before and after was ridiculous. He even took the time to brush out the bowls and clean out every orifice with carb cleaner afterwards. it really helps break up the...

Questions about the Battery/Charging system in my 76 CB550K...

As stated, bike is a 1976 Honda CB550K w/ around 12k miles. Battery isnt OLD old but not new. Water level is good. I bought the bike from a guy who said he "charged the battery and it fires right up". It did... for about 2 days... then it wouldnt restart with the electric push button starter...
