Thanks swagger. You know your stuff for sure. I wasn't even aware of the aluminum grade difference. I picked my aluminum from a scrap pile at a recycle yard.
That does not sound like "way" to much I don't think. We used resin from a 20 litre pail so can't say exactly how much was used. You have the mold and the final part to make. Be generous with resin on the mold!
The gel coat sounds like you have about twice what you will use.
BTW...I have...
I (we) waited at least a few days to pull the mold off the plug. And a few days as well to pull the part from the mold.
Please tell me that your not trying to cure fiberglass outside in this weather????
Hey...
Thank you for all the great feedback for this seat project. I've had numerous pm's on price requests. Without going into details, I have chosen not to reproduce this seat for resale...sorry.
This header system was never chromed. It was paint from new. If you want to paint over rusted or pitted metal, just have it sandblasted or pick up one of them cheap $30..00 sandblasters where you stick the siphon tube in the bag of sand. I have done this with other chrome parts and the results...
Thanks for all the great compliments peeps. Johnny5, I painted the headers with good ol flat black high heat BBQ paint. It's been a year now and this paint really holds up to the heat and elements.
I had no idea that you were gone either!!!...
Although...hypothetically, if someone were to wonder where you went, lets add to the hypothetical list...
-you were a suspect in "sca@@at's dissappearence...
- had sex change surgery...
-charged and found guilty of robbing the Dickie Dee icecream...
I think you guys are too critical. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That poor shmuck must have wasted hundreds of hours on that...that full scale mechano set. I like this one too... :-\
