Love Child, an unholy union of CB400t and XR250r

Made a moto table thing over the weekend to get my projects up off the ground. Should have done it years ago. Made some more progress on the pipes, need to finish the hangers then pull it off to weld the backside and blend it out. Cheers, Zweihammer

    Trash to Tracker, Xl350 UPDATED!

Great job, looks fantastic. I love the older XLs, had a few back when they weren’t older XLs. Torque and reliability. What’s left on your list? Cheers, Zweihammer

Zip tie master link for the win! Seriously, though, thought I needed to “lighten” the mag cover, it has to be good for two to four ten thousandths per lap. Almost as good as stickers. I am working on a skid plate next. Not that I am worried about smashing cases, I want to put the battery and...

Love Child, an unholy union of CB400t and XR250r

There is a right way to get an 18t 520 for my little burro, and a wrong way. I like to think this is the right wrong way. I found 16t 520 all day long, 17t if I wanted to wait a couple weeks to get it from Germany, or I could get an 18t 530 that came stock on an automatic 400 in two days. Guess...

Got the front on tonight. Looks a lot more moto and a lot less vélo.

Yeah, it’ll be impractical, it should be able to pull the wheel pretty easily. I have an 18t coming to lessen the stupidity. I am still considering other options for the cush, this design will never get smaller than 45t. Cheers, Zweihammer

    '80 Cm400 Scrambler

Well, I remembered, too late, I unintentionally started two build threads that are no longer two builds. If you’re curious what became of this, I am picking the story back up in the other thread- http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=69776.0

Love Child, an unholy union of CB400t and XR250r

Well, against the advice of the voices in my head, I have pulled this from it’s resting place and restarted my attempt at a contradiction. I have decided to use another GSXR front as my rear and add a cush. I am not completely there yet, but this shows where I am going. The cush is my attempt...

    1974 Honda CL360 Tracker Build

Great vision you have for your CL, your tracker tail looks trick. Are you going to try adding your number plates into it as a single unit? I had an old, 60's tracker body given to me back in the 80's, when I was a teenager. It was one piece, tank, seat, numbers and tail. It was fiberglass...

    '80 Cm400 Scrambler

Re: '80 Cm400 Mongrel Scrambler After taking a side trip to exercise my ADD, http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=69776.0 I realized I didn't need another project and applied what I harvested from the XR carcass to my little burro here. Right now the seat is just...

    Cb350 Tracker / Scrambler - The UpstateScrambler

Wicked work on the nacelle! Normally, I am not a fan of the projector beam headlights like those, but your design brings it all together beautifully. Your slip on looks sweet as well. Did you get the springs with the clips as well?

Love Child, an unholy union of CB400t and XR250r

I supported the frame from the ceiling and with the suspension unloaded as far as it can extend. Here's the worst line I can expect extended, the tension side misses by 3/8, the slack side misses the lower frame by a quarter. Then I took the top of the shock out of the clevis and let the...

Love Child, an unholy union of CB400t and XR250r

I put the chain back on and checked the swingarm pivot relation to the counter sprocket. I had to take the block off the lower frame cross member where the lower link pivot mounts just to get a quarter inch clear. To get the counter sprocket any lower I would have to change the linkage. At this...

I thought that was what was being referred to, good catch. To be frank, I was just thrilled it fell so close along the z axis and the pivot was within the tangent. I have seen some installations where the slider is the only thing keeping the chain from cutting through the swingarm at ride...

Love Child, an unholy union of CB400t and XR250r

Took my next step, supported both wheels and took another degree out, giving me another quarter inch clear at the rear. The alignment on the front sprocket is surprisingly close; Starting with random bracket, I think came off one of the 400s; Made a frame tab for the lowest left side and...

    CX500 Street Tracker

Excellent work on the mods for marrying the swingarm! Are you using a GSXR shock with your linkage? I mocked mine up direct and it's stupid soft. I am pondering incorporating the stock GSXR linkage or sourcing an alternative from something else. Those gold rims are looking sweet, especially with...

Thanks for the insight, xx33bsa, I know from following your efforts to head off other potential train wrecks on here you have the best intentions to get people to see the shortcomings of just slapping crap together. My plan with this one was to pilfer the unmodified rear suspension, the forks...

Love Child, an unholy union of CB400t and XR250r

xb33bsa, there are two main reasons I am using the "backbone" of the CB400t frame. First, I want the VIN from the CB, so if when this basterd moves under its own power, I can register it for the street. Second, the CB engine was much taller and much longer than the little thumper that was...
