Yeah it is all hand made. There is the cowl and seat frame and then I made a seat pan for the upholstery to attach to. The leather part of the seat (seat pan) is easily removable so you can get to the electronics tray. I'm not sure what the reveal around the seat pan is, probably about 3/16".
So close to being ready for paint and powder, we are just trying to make sure we have all the final details complete.
Got the seat done this week
Electronics tray is now built and installed
We counter sunk the dual disks so we can stick with the stock length disk bolts and cross drilled...
I finally found a buyer for this bike so it is now getting the attention that it needs. Sorry the pics aren't great, the sun was at a bad angle for these.
Steering stabilizer is ready to go
Upgraded to the Cycle X rear disk conversion, this is a pretty sweet set up from Ken
Got the Brembo...
The tank is from a 74 CB750 but I am doing some slight modifications to try to make it a little different.
Fill hole from a modern sport bike
Lots of prep and fitting
I'm definitely not the best at tig on thin metal but overall it turned out pretty good, I'll have to grind the welds down...
After over a year of this project collecting dust I have started it up again. Over the last few weeks I have been prepping the case for paint. I am painting the case, powdering the head, cylinder, and all covers.
Finished:
The bike is fully broken in now and that motor really screams! While on a Colorado 500 mile loop this summer I was riding with my buddy on a Aprilia Tuono. I could stay right on him up to about 95 then he would start pulling away.
While in Estes Park we had to get wood to our...
Damn, it has been a long time since I updated this. Summer hits and I am so busy I cant get anything done! I have been breaking in the motor and working out all the kinks. I think I am pretty close though. I just started playing around with new exhaust. Here are a few pictures...
Re: 78 CB750F build
The universal will work fine but yes you will have to cut off the rear of the frame and the bracket. On my frame I cut it off a few inches behind the shock mounts. You shouldn't need a rear hoop with the universal seat, I have seen people just cut the frame and run the...

Race Tech Gold Valve emulators are now installed
Tarozzi fork brace to keep everything in line
I expect this bike to handle like a modern sport bike now...haha!
While waiting for my cam to get here I was able to get some of the other punch list items complete.
Koso digital speedo and tach installed with new custom dash(second time I've built this dash)
So the cowl is off to get painted and I now have all the needed parts for my motor. I had a chance yesterday to assemble the trans and get the cases put back together. I feel like I am now in a race with the weather here in Colorado, every day that it gets above 60 I start to panic a little...
I welded 2 small tabs to the seat pan a little inside from the edge. That way there could be a little foam between the tabs and the leather. I originally had it set up with pan head bolts holding the cowl on. I just welded a nut on the tabs so I could thread the bolts in to the hold the cowl...
I have been losing sleep over this fiberglass cowl being a tiny bit lop-sided so I finally made time to fix the problem. Now it will go off to paint next week.
I also added a spot to strap in a tool pouch under the cowl.
