    LED strip tail lights

Was the car running? The strip probably isn't regulated so it's brightness could vary significantly depending on the voltage. Cheers

    Atlantic Canada

Anyone out here in Atlantic Canada interested in a partially cafe'd DOHC cb750? Looks like i will be heading west for work and won't have a garage for a while...

    1983 XV500 Cafe Racer

Strictly from an air flow perspective... The airstream can't make sharp turns, so you are going to get some dead areas in the flow. For the bottom corner that projects into the air stream you are going to have a high velocity area right on the corner and spirally inversions/dead air on the side...

Honda Twins - Three Phase Alternator Project

Custom alternator to run custom injection on an old bike? I love it :)

    Electrical Musings - DIY Regulator

I like it. I'm sure you could use a 555 timer for this, but I would just use a an attiny. Internal osscillator running at 1 MHz your parts count could be in the dozen range, and to top if off you can use the arduino to program it ;) Two random considerations... firstly your circuit might see...

    DOHC Starting Issue

With the lights dimming it makes me think that you either have a bum battery (reading fine when unloaded but dropping quickly once you try to use anything that takes some juice); or possibly a shorted starter solenoid (which seems unlikely to me tbh). Try to disconnect the starter and hit the...

    DOHC Starting Issue

The diode on the DOHC cb750 is on the starter circuit not the spark, if your bike is in gear, clutch in and the starter spins then the diode is fine. If your bike will start in neutral but not with the clutch in then your diode may be fried, if your neutral light comes on with the clutch in then...

    DOHC Starting Issue

What everyone else said.... but check your battery leads, if they are corroded or loose you can have flaky things like this happen. So... 1. Check your battery leads. 2. Check your fuses. 3. Try to start in both neutral and with the clutch in (in case the diode is shot). 4. Report back...

    Parts in Canada

I've dealt with http://bullitcustomcycles.com/ a bit and they were always helpful (although their site is down right now) Other then that I will usually check http://www.siriusmotosportsinc.com/ and the local MC shop. TBH my local shop usually gives better deals then I can find online, just ask...

After replacing suspension wobble in turns

Couple easy things I would triple check is tire pressure and rear wheel alignment. Both can make the bike feel weird if they are too far out of spec.

    Relay vs solenoid

For the initial in rush the resistance and inductance of the motor that will set the current. As the motor starts to build a magnetic field (spins) it generates a back EMF. The back EMF can be thought of as effectively lowering the voltage drop across the motor. It is still Ohm's law but...

    first time electric. help needed

You can buy switches that are normally opened (N/O) and ones that are normally closed (N/C) (and some with both but thats beside the point). Use a combination of these and you will get a "code". For example if you five switches and go N/O N/C N/C N/O N/C and wire through them all you would need...

    Relay vs solenoid

Speaking from an electrical perspective solenoids are just relays that can handle substantially more current. Your normal relays top out at around 50A (off the top of my head, I haven't validated this in any way shape or form) where I've seen solenoids up to 4000A (3 phase 600V solenoid actuated...
