    Yamaha SR250, brit build cafe

Haha damn I suppose it has been a while! Saddens me to say the bike is not finished, and still sits at home neglected for the majority of the year. I started university a couple years ago and life away from home for most of the year, meaning I have little to no access to it, or indeed time to...

Cheers for the information/advice guys, it's all appreciated! Swivel, i have had a go at trying to get somewhere mechanically: firstly realised that the starter motor wasn't working due to worn down bushes, so bought some new ones and repaired that, then ran the battery dead making sure it was...

Yamaha SR250 Restoration - Built by a schoolboy

So the swinger that was on the bike when i received it had a major problem, the bottom of it looked like this: :o So bought a replacement one off good old ebay, cleaned it up a bit and voilá! Got some more polishing work done on the forks, and replaced the old oil in there while i was at...

Yamaha SR250 Restoration - Built by a schoolboy

Been atrocious at keeping this updated, but here we go: Been doing some cosmetic work on the engine, managed to get it all cleaned up nice, painted most of it in a flat aluminium (that's 'aluminum' for all you over that side of the water), and polished up some accent pieces: Also, done some...

leather jacket cut into a seat?-also paint opinion

Cheers man! All i used was a decent quality staple gun (luckily the seat pan is plastic, not sure how you'd do it with a metal pan), and pulled the leather pretty tight in a couple of directions, clamped it, and went around with the stapler, pulling the area to be stapled a little tighter, then...

leather jacket cut into a seat?-also paint opinion

I made a seat cover out of an old leather coat on my sr250. It was really supple leather, not the sort of thing that you'd ever use to protect you from the road or anything, and i didn't deal with stiching panels to make it a perfect fit or anything, but i was pretty happy with the results: From...

Yamaha SR250 Restoration - Built by a schoolboy

Then work got underway on the wheels... Took them off the bike, which was simple enough seeing as how half the brake line/speedo cable/etc. weren't included when i got the thing ;) These where how they were looking (I deduce, although i could be very wrong, that the previous owner attempted a...

    Motor oil as fork oil?

Just wondering if there are any serious risks of using 10W30 motor oil in place of the recommended 10W fork oil? Would the motor oil pose a threat to the fork seals or anything like that?

    Subcontinental Un-lurkification

Wow, no way! I was out in hyderabad/secunderabad too! Oh right, didn't seem to realise many enfields or anything... i guess that's probably not surprising though, there's so much to see when you're driving on the roads, as well as the massively congested traffic, i must've just missed them...
