...you get a different perspective from the bike when its high up on the build table. So I was sitting there one day having a coffee and realised how messy it looked underneath. I always look closely on other bikes when Im at shows......it gives a good idea on the quality of the build and...
...then trying to weld it on with minimising the distortion......tougher than it looks but it ended up flat and horizontal. Slight bit of distortion but nothing a hammer could not sort or my painter couldn't handle
petrol tank next....
The tank is a repo Honda CG125 from ebay. Not too bad quality wise, few rough edges which will be cleaned up prior to paint, but I hated the filler cap and wanted to fit a Yamaha logo cap.......so time to graft a Yamaha cap onto a Honda tank.
Had to make a up a filler neck...
something to sit on next.....
Bought some medium frim crumb foam and got the seat base ready for the adhesive. Then set about shaping the seat to a rough size. Its a messy job and the dust gets everywhere !
pre Christmas update.......im nearly up to date with thread uploads.
onto the rear wheel / chain adjusters. Never really liked the snail cam versions so set about designing and making my own. Bit of drilling, turning and welding....
trying to get the taper looking right and get it where I wanted it to sit took a bit of head scratching. The pivots were all worn out so had to be welded and machined back.
..time to get the bike off its build table and onto the floor. The increased wheel diameter meant the crusty side stand was now way too short, so set about extending that, repositioning it and altering its "park" position on the frame.
........on to the mudguards. The edges were a little sharp and could prove problematic come paint time so ground up an old pair of pliers and set about rolling over the edge, and hammer/dolly it more rounded. Got that mounted with some indentations and some suitable machine washers.
...whilst down in the foot control dept., I decided to get rid of the rubber cover and brake pedal. So turned up some aluminium finishers, some mounting hardware and welded them in place.

whilst I was looking at that picture above I want happy with the position of the headlight so I decided to drop it down about 15mm.........that 15mm was a few hours work !
.....mounted the front mudguard onto the new brackets, but wasn't quite happy with the heads of the screws sticking out so made a small tool to form an indentation on the surface to sink them in a bit.
