1965 Honda C100 Cub (Watch me strip!!! XXX S*X!!!)

Re: 1965* Honda C100 Cub (Absorbing the Bumps)

cases are split, finally, but I unfortunately found out that the replacement kick start spindle I received is not the correct one. F***. That pushes things back a bit. Sigh.

Re: 1965* Honda C100 Cub (Absorbing the Bumps)

I tracked down a C100 parts motor upstate, going to see if the owner will sell it to me for cash (so that I can avoid the ebay auction). It also happens to come with a spare frame.... I'll probably sell it on for a profit.

I wouldn't worry about profits yet, just get it fixed

Heres some pictures, and a great trick to get stuck bolts out... Use a vice to (carefully) hold a bit inside the bolt, then use a spanner to loosen the bolt. worked a treat, my dad came up with it on a whim after struggling to help me get two bolts out (he was holding the motor in place while I wacked at it with an impact driver).

Here you can see the difference in kickstart spindle. Sorry I did not remove it from the packaging, as I am going to return it.

Finishing up strip and primer today...

weather permitting I will be painting tomorrow. I was also able to track down a replacement kick start spindle, but it seems it going to be more than I would like to pay.

Brother that frame looks brand new, very nice work! I can not wait to see it with new paint!

The bolt in the air cleaner location should come out. Looking great! I was in your shoes about this time last year.

yeah, I had the air cleaner stud out before. I left it in since its easier to tape the stud and have one less hole to remember to run a thread chaser through.

Spent the week knocking the huge dent out of the frame and the tank. Seems the bike had been hit at some point and the frame is slightly twisted. noticable, but I didn't notice anything off when riding it and since it's only a little 50 I'm not going to stress about it too much. Aiming to paint this friday/saturday.

Good news... I finally tracked down a kick start spindle... its in michigan, but its the right part. seems they have the last 6 in existence. It's a hefty 96 dollars plus shipping, so its definitely an unwelcome setback, but I'm going to have to bite on this one since its the last piece I need to have everything ready for assembly.

Engine is back together with the new spindle in place! Will do body filler on the frame and try to get it all painted by next weekend. Been extremely busy with work and start class on tuesday, so things have been a little slow going.

I havent posted recent pics of the motor assembled.... I'll take some tomorrow.

If you're referring to my old posts....they seem to be working fine to me?

Awaiting filler. The tank was pretty badly dented, and this was the best I could do to bang the dents out from the inside. some filler will have it looking splendid.

got a ton done! only have to self etch over the frame, put on some filler primer, sand everything, top coat and clear! Unfortunately had to use a lot of filler on the left side where it was dented in badly, but it looks good as new and should be unnoticable once sprayed over.

Awesome build so far! Love it when people put life into old sitting souls!!

Here's a shot of mine, sure you don't want to modify yours? ;)

On my original engine, the kickstart shaft sheared off aswell, I purchased another bike for it's parts & engine, and used that for a while. Since then, a Lifan 125cc engine has been installed and has been amazing for what a china quality replica engine has been putting out.

Also, when first starting to put my Cub together, I found many parts on www.dratv.com and they have tons of parts available for the Cub!
