1970 CB350 Spring Thaw Hellride

I figured out the fender mount at the hoop. A mock-up with the seat, tail light and side cover...

that brown is just horrid. i always feel way better about the moronic choices i make when i see something like that.

Hahahahaha. I drove a 1978 Chevy Van in high school and beyond that my parents had customized brand new in that same color.

I don't intend to keep the brown. It's just not my thing. I honestly prefer a black frame over most, but this may get a shade of silver. Still up in the air about it, though the brown is already there and it wouldn't be too hard to blend it back to what I fabbed up. If I keep the brown it'll be because I don't want to pull the thing apart more than the notion that I like the brown.

Took a chance on a front fender listed on EBay as a YR1. It’s close, but I don’t think it’s actually it. Close, but not quite right for YR1. Regardless, with a little work, I think the fender will fit. Whether the fender braces stay remains to be seen.

Mikuni doesn’t make an angled intake boot, so I sourced one from Niche Cycle. It’s slightly small but forces on good enough. This gets a good angle off the frame to fit air filters. I also needed a lower mount for my side covers. This was remedied with 1/2” tube and threaded inserts at the ends.

Do you prefer to run mikunis on most of your projects? Including your cb360's?
Yes, though I've happily run Keihin FCR carbs on a few dirt bikes. Mikuni makes things so much easier and they have great throttle response and produce good torque is certain applications. On my CB378, though, I went back to the stock PJ modified carbs. That was a bird-in-hand type situation. Online forums tend to suggest too large of a carb for the 360, me thinks, so I wonder if I would've been happy at a 28mm Mikuni instead of the VM30s I ran for a month. Regardless, I love Murray's Carbs dual Mikuni VM carb kits on my CB650 and my CB750. My DR370 has a Mikuni. I'll run dual VM34s on my XS650. The FT500 I'm building is running an FCR. I ran dual TM34 carbs on my BMW F650.

all those mikunis are non pumpers? how do you find them in terms of response? need a slow hand at all? the small block guzzi have phbh28 or 30 without pumps and they were fine. i was thinking of trying a couple of the small tm on a monster 400, either 28 or 32, but i don't know if i can be bothered trying to sort them out. std they have the same 38mm bdst series mikuni cv as all the other carb ss and monsters.

Depends on the bike, but my CB750 and CB650 with the dual VM carbs will bog if you try to quick twist to full throttle in idle, no load. The 650 does it more. Going from a stand start and through the throttle range, like in a drag race type scenario, it’s clean and powerful through the range. No bog. I like the response on the TM better and they can be bought with or without a pumper. I had a DR350 that ran a TM33 pumper before I bored it to 440. That’s a great carb. I switched to an FCR after the bore.

What size are the Mikunis on this 350? Getting ready to buy a set for my 350 build and had planned on getting 30s but sounds like those might be too big?
