1971 Honda SL70 Barber Small Bore Bike

Because it is a Honda tank, which is thin from the factory, then it got rusted to shit making it even thinner. You lost a lot of metal. Can't say you leak now, but remember a certain DR370 on the trails in Ohio? It hadn't leaked in two years before we took it on those trails. I wouldn't wish Kreem on Eric Clapton's worst enemies, but Caswell is legit and the best, IMO. I've also had good luck with Por 15.
You mean I shouldn't just carry a rock, gasket maker and duck tape to fix it on the spot? Lol I'll look into por 15. I've heard good things

The shit we do to ride. HAHA

Caswell's Dragonsblood is great. I've only lined one tank so far, but it did the job with aplomb. Happy New Year fella

Ill definitely put that on the list. Thanks for the tip! Happy new year friend!

I got a few loose ends wrapped up yesterday, enough to make it run and ride under its own power. I still need to finish and figure out the lighting circuit, but that will be saved for a later date. I made up an exhaust as the stock SL70 one didn't work. It was too small diameter for the 125 motor, and I wanted the muffler to dump out the opposite side as factor, since i am planning to fit a sidecar. The pipe is 7/8 i.d. hardware store special, as is the 3/4 tapered thread adapter and the lawn mower muffler. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised with the tone that came out of this hack job lol.

A trip to Tractor supply for some #41 chain and we were hot lap ready. It's definitely rowdy and fun. The brakes are pretty lacking and the suspension is squishy, but all in all its pretty rad. I'll likely go up at least a tooth on the front. First grear is so low that its barely usable and it only tops out at around 40 mph wound out. Not bad, but i should be able to get a bit more.

Lenny enjoyed his first (but definitely not last) Mid Ohio Vintage Days. He put in over 20 miles of pit bike Co pilot duty on the sl70/125, and wanted to ride more. (He was way happier than he looks in the picture lol)

I like it......runs nice.

Do you have to have those little things tagged and registered and insured to ride around those events like that??????

I dont know how I missed this entire build.
But it sure is a neat little machine.

I actually just got historic tags purchased for this, though Ohio sends them in the mail.

Events like Barber claim a need for tags and insurance, though I think they often turn a blind eye.

Mid Ohio on the other hand is as close to true anarchy that still exists among the United States. I think if you don't murder someone, you're in the clear. It's madness, and I love it. Lol

Little man graduated to a real lid a few days ago. He's a quiet little dude, and rarely has much to say, but one of his daily routines after I get home is to run to the door, put his shoes on and ye'll, "its the dirtbike, lets GOOOOO!!!!"

Not gonna lie, it makes me happy. We usually spend a half hour or better when the weather is nice tooling around on this thing. It is now one of my all time favorite bikes, if only because it has gotten my boy on two wheels with me.

I also picked up a balance bike for him to start out on. He is 2 (will be 3 on halloween). He is picking up on it pretty well. After doing a bunch of reading, it seems as though the consensus is to use balance bikes vs. training wheels as a better intro to the sport.
