1971 Kawasaki G3SS

I have my heart set on a disc but was wondering if the stock drum would get me bye until I sorted the parts... I guess you answered that one clearly! :)

I'm still doing research for other viable candidates but the 04-08 Honda CG125 has an 18" front wheel, 40 spokes and a disc brake. I've found Chinese knockoff forks for $50 on eBay but so far no luck on the wheel or hub... I'm afraid to ask Honda! :)
As far as the pipe goes, that's one thing I've got covered... I'll be making a few for this bike... :)

Looking forward to your progress. I've been putting some miles on my '69 G3TR lately, and have really enjoyed it. Surprisingly powerful with a bit of porting to the rotary valve and a hotter pipe.

Your pic didn't work but I checked out your build thread, cool bike and she sounds pretty sweet too!

Well this will be pipe #1... I wasn't able to get more than 45 deg lean angle without the gooseneck. More than 60 deg. now with fully compressed suspension.

I decided to reconsider the limp dick pipe after some persuasion from the triple board... Lol

Yeah it didn't look to pretty, but being unlearned in the two stroke chamber effects i didn't want to interject my opinion for a purely esthetically pointed response.

Even though ugly, it would allow you to scrape the cases. :)
You are correct, the 2 stroke pipe has to be the correct length. It wouldn't be an option to just shorten it to fit the frame.
Even though the two pipes have different layouts, performance would be almost identical.
I decided to badge the oil tank just to rub it in to the bigger displacement bikes... ;D

I actually like the limp dick pipe. Just need to figure what to do about routing that header pipe. I like how it tucks underneath. I always find that when you have a lot of exhaust on one side it makes the opposite side look unsymmetrical, empty and awkward. They always look great on the pipe side, but when you look at the other it's as though something is missing. This is the same problem with 70's-early 80's 4 cylinder bikes with 4-1 headers, KZ's, GS's.....
And besides the second one, even though it still looks good, is your basic run of the mill pipe and a waste of your pipe design talent. As a pipe in a pinch.... sure, but I think if you are gonna build it from scratch, I personally would like to see more.

As for the through the frame pipe, It has a dirt bike feel to it because you designed as a dirtbike pipe. I really like subrews bike and his pipe has that classic feel to it. I think if you were to use his header pipe routing instead of it dumping down like a dirtbike in your design it might give you a better look.

You got any RD400 pipes calculated?

Yeah, I still plan to work on a pipe that swings around the side like a scrambler pipe, then through the frame... Maybe I'll work on that today. ;)
I got the same comment with my 500 3 into 1 pipe... The bike looks naked on the left... But as long as you have multiple sets of pipes, all is good. :)

That's it perfect, you nailed it, exactly what I thought you should do when I saw the first rendering.

That's exactly what I had in mind. You just took the notch and brought it up a few levels on this bike if you go with that pipe!! Now what do you think about it?

Honestly I like it! The way the belly comes out behind the cylinder works for me... :)
My only issue now is where to go with the silencer... I have it jammed underneath now but in reality, that doesn't leave enough room for wheel travel.
What I need are small diameter quality shocks, if there were such a thing? That and a small dia can and I think this could work!
The silencer on the outside of the shock looks goofy.

I did exactly that.. Not the best shot but it fits now with a smaller diameter baffle.

Well I gave up looking for spoked wheels with disk brakes so I went out and bought the wheels and brakes from a 2007 CBR125R. It's not my original plan but I like the look! :)
