1971 Kawasaki G3SS

Thanks Reds! I'm sidetracked at the moment... The warm weather got me working on the 500 :)

Sorry Reds... I shifted gears. :)
Due to a change in pipe shape, I decided to keep it simple...

Booooooo!!

Alright, I guess it'll do! :p

I guess that'll free up more time to formulate those RD pipes right?! ;)

It's on the list... ;)
I plan to do a few funky designs in the fall when I have more time. This one will be simple for tweaking if need be.

that pipe has a lot less going on than your previous designs. a lot less sections. would hydroforming be an option now? would this current pipe clear the stock center stand and foot pegs/rear brake lever?

Hydroforming would be cool thing to explore but I'm tooled up for the segmented style at the moment.
This pipe will require removing the stock pegs and side stand, I plan to box in the rear of the frame and make brackets for the rearsets below the swingarm.

My bike never came with a center stand so I can't confirm... Maybe you have some photo's?

Any updates on this bike? Looking really good! Would love to do something like this to my G3. Also how much would you charge for one of those exhausts?

Unfortunately not much going on with this project other than I'm in the process of making the pipe. I've been spread pretty thin lately... Too many projects and commitments. :(
I do have some pipe kits ready to be rolled though. I'm selling the kit for this bike for $140, which include rolled cones, flange and stinger. Everything is ready for welding.

Digging the G3 love here. I have a 74 G3ssD that I have been riding for over 3 years as my daily that recently failed on me so now I'm doing all the rebuild work and considering swapping a few things around also to make it mine. I originally wanted to do a full resto on it until I found out that no one wants these damn bikes unless they are close to free. Time to make it the way I want it.

I grok what Aaron says about restos.
Awhile back I restored a '71 G3TR and probably broke almost even on parts. As far as my labour, not a chance.
On the upside, it taught one of my daughters how wiring looms go together and how to solder as well. Dad doesn't even have that many soldering iron scars to complain about either LOL.
OTT, great little bikes, solid engineering for the era, was probably the only bike I've ever owned that did the max speed the manual said it would and then some.
Enjoy your ride and make it exactly as you want it to be.

Pat Cowan,
Vintage Motorcycle Fiberglass

Has anyone figured out rear sets for this bike ? There is a local Kawi shop that has a G3 alcohol drag race bike that has the rear set on the passenger pegs which would be fine for drag, but no good on the street. It is also the perfect position for comfort.

Where the frame is open facing the swingarm, I plan to box that in with a plate for rigidity as well as a good base for mounting brackets for some late model rearsets... It seems to be the best option on this frame.
I agree, the rear pegs are too far back, not to mention they are on the swingarm and travel with the suspension.

Gotta revive this thread! ;D

I'm in the game too! :)

'75 G3SSE. Nice shape, but way to factory for me. ;)

Stripped the turn signals and used drag bars because I didn't have a set of drop bars.

Finally got the drop bars off a buddy.

Sorry for the weak pics. Poor lighting in the garage. :D

Got a sweet deal on a "Walms Pipe"! Traded some stuff that Walms needed, for the pipe I needed! 8)

This is the pipe. Got the cone kit! Can't wait to see it welded up! 8)

Gonna hafta do some serious work on the running gear over the winter.

I've got '08 CBR125 wheels, front end, brakes and triple clamps with assorted bits to make it work. The front will be a complete swap. The rear should be a fairly clean... CBR for G3 switch. It appears to fit the G3 swing arm with out too much drama. We'll see, of course. ::)

When I get to it in the fall, I'll start my own thread. 8)

When we have the "singles" rally should we make the guys that show up on a triple ride at the back of the pack? :)

Why bother? Walms has already hijacked the other G3 guys thread!! ;)

Haha, sorry bud, I thought this was my G3 thread...

Ya. I suppose I could hijack this thread! :)

I need to keep on Andrew's good side though. ;)
