nice thread find for a first post mate.....i thought i had trawled most threads but hadn't seen this one before, looking forward to hearing the updates
Things were put on hold once my job had me busy with traveling etc. I also had other project to take care off as well. One of them was rebuilding the motor on my 73 TX650, doing other mod workd to an 82 seca I have and I also have a CB450 that I would like to start but I have to get to this SL350 before I get to that.
So yeah, time goes by fast. I have not forgotten about my son's bike, but there are other things that we have also been working on,like his vintage BMX racing bike made by Mongoose. That's done.
I sold the SECA, so i don't have to worry about that, so now all I have to do is start the rebuild on the TX650 which my son is also helping me with, and then his bike will be next. I think when we get to his, it will be easier since i won't have other projects to draw me away from his SL350.
This is what we were doing this past saturday. Not his bike, but after I got his mongoose in good order, he gave me a hand with my TX650.
MY TX650
after a two hour ride.
I have to add some of this to my TX650 thread and reopen it as well.

Thanks! I'm building an SL vintage motard like the HEIWA posted above. I'll put some pics soon. Love this thread - reminds me of me working with my pops. Nice Yammie.
Thanks a bunch guys, I have to re open my thread to move onto the engine, I also have a fiberglass seat I am working on for it. Long story, these things are never 100% done.
Whew. Over 4 years later and the project is still going... Not the best way to resurrect the thread but I've been laying low for the past few years...
Son is 16 yrs old now, we moved to Arkansas about 2 1/2 years ago and been too busy to work on this...
Still going with the CB350 tank...
Finally found and exhaust, I lost the stock one during the move about 2 1/2 years ago..
Most of the work on these photos was done in the past 6 months
Right now we are working on the exhaust and the tank and the front end.
Now that I have the tapatalk app I can just post as we go.
In the pics is looks like you raised the rear of the tank, or it just fits that way. It could be just how it looks in the pic, but if so consider the loss of fuel capacity when you're checking fuel level while riding. I did the same thing to one of my tanks (raised the rear of the tank 1.25") and as a result lost 1.1 gallons of usable capacity. Unfortunately, the location of the petcock makes it so. It took running out of gas with plenty in the tank to realize what was going on. It's not something I thought about when I set up my tank.
Hey thanks for bringing that up man. Saved me time an hassle for down the road. I can lower the rear a bit. Reason is up high at he back of the tank, because the tank was hitting the top of the motor. Even when I tried to massage the tunnel with a hammer it was too close to the motor. So I raised up the rear mount bracket. I can lower it a bit more. Gotta see how much space I have left. Another option I thought off, would be to modify the petcock stem by shortening the stem a bit.
