The rest of it was just a matter of clean up/straighten up and I'll admit I've still got to get to the wall cabinets... someday,
The "thinking station." (Yeah, more like the as close as I get to a Man Cave Station.)
Counter-clock wise:
More to the left. The two smaller Kennedy boxes have pliers and misc stuff and the old wooden box was my dad's. It's got drill bits and related things.
And on around is the motorcycling stuff.
Yeah, I wish I had built a bigger shop but it's what I've got and I'm happy to have it. Getting things more organized makes me feel less like I'm trying to fit a size 14 foot into a size 9 boot!
Thank you. I found two sets, new in box, at a Goodwill and thought they'd be perfect. Turns out they were a bit short but I could get the right height from Amazon so I got them and have the other two for another project. they're in those two boxes below the red box.
Got in a ride today! I hate to admit that it was the first of the year but it was a tough winter and has been a frustrating spring so far. It was windy but I wasn't going to say no to 70 degree temps!
I had an ulterior motive as well as I've been wanting some validation. Not seeking praise, but an honest evaluation from somebody who knows airheads better than I do. The things are just "different" enough from other bikes; they sound different (Perhaps I should say that they make different noises.), ride different, and handle differently from just about everything else out there. I knew that @Hurco550 was the man for the job. We've been trying to arrange a ride on the thing for him but we hadn't been able to make it happen. To me it seemed to be running well and rides and handles great but I wanted some airhead experience to tell me it is OK or what it lacks or needs.
He came back w/ a smile on his face and a thumbs up so I guess that's all I can ask for. He touched up the air mixture tuning a little and otherwise things seem good w/ it.
For now I'm calling it done but I'm still waiting for the powder coated heat shields, crash bars, and rack.
You put together a great bike! I really enjoyed getting to ride it around and it gave me a nudge to keep on trucking on mine! It was great to see that thing out on the road!

Thanx guys. It took a bit of time to figure out how I wanted it to end up but I'm pretty happy w/ the (almost) finished product. There's a little part of me that thinks "sidecar" but I let that chance pass me by once so it isn't a very serious thought.
In the works still, other than the aforementioned parts I'm waiting for, is a plan to remove the center stand to it can be modified to get along better w/ the deep oil pan and there's still a very small leak at the junction of the right muffler and head pipe. @Hurco550 suggested I try to find another pair of the '74-and-older aluminum blinker housings for the rear; he's right.
Thank you very much. I bought it w/ the attitude of half rescue and perhaps keep it. What w/ the low miles and amazing (under all the dirt and mess!) condition, I didn't want it to go to someone who would hack it up or go to someone w/ good intentions that would never "get around to it." So I figured that if I could get it cleaned up and running it would have a better chance of living on. It didn't take long for me to decide it had found a home w/ me. It's not a restoration and not quite a restomod. I guess all in all it's just "mine."
Got the powder coated parts today. Updated pictures coming soon.
A few pix from today. There is shiny hardware coming for the crash bars and I'll eventually find a set of aluminum turn signal housings for the rear. Other than that It's done at least for now.
A couple air heads got out for a short impromptu ride on their airheads today. Coulda'/shoulda'/woulda' gone longer and farther but @Hurco550 and I both had "Honey Do" things that needed attention. DGR next weekend!
Made it to the DGR in Columbus w/ @Hurco550. I think they said there were 80 riders in our group. Absolutely perfect weather and was a nice ride. The two airheads performed flawlessly. There may have been an older bike or two in the group but at '75 & '76 I'm sure ours were the oldest BMWs in attendance.
