1975 CB125 Tracker project

More done. Little slow with my minnie me helper instead 9f the older one at the moment. When he gets up and she goes for a nap we'll press on. Cleaned up the chain guard. Hit it with a little chassis black vht on the only rusty spot. Chain and sprockets look brand new. Chain has really sticky lube. Thinking of cleaning it and using a dry lube as the dirt stick to that style lube bad.

Looks like you have a great helper! Keep her interested, my daughter in law knows more about bikes than my son!

She started picking bolts and nuts up I had in piles. So I grabbed baggies and made a game of bag the parts. We bagged up all the bits for front fender, rear etc. I wasn't going to post this unless it worked. Seemed to so here it is. When removing the fender. The lefr side had a busted thread on one holder. So I put some tape, filled with our ole buddy JB and let it cure. Filed, sanded, drilled and tappped making sure to use the old threads left and it seems good. Put a bolt in and gave it a yank, held. So I will lightly tighten a bolt in it to give that side 2. Last pic isntje steaks from the other night. They were yum.

Kicking around ideas with the future rider. Thought instead of replica side covers, a pair of leather bags you can actually put stuff in. Wrapped an old cb450 cover in left over leather to see what may work.

I like that idea - side babe that you can actually use. Unlike the ones I made a while back that were completely and utterly useless unless all you planned on carrying was a flatpack cigar.

What's the plan with the tank? How about a pinstripe straight on it as is and hit it with satin 2k clear?

I showed him your bags actually. But the plan would be to make them function. And the one on the tool box side we would have the bag opened to it to use the space in it as well.

Much better idea. Mine looked ok but the buck stopped there. Definitely form over function. Make 'em so he can shove a few beers baby yodas in there and he's off to the races

A buddy donated this. Nice heavy leather from an old chair. Will be perfect for a set of side cover bags, There is brand new never sat on from the back, then a real nice aged and worn stuff on the sitting parts to chose from.

Pulled the trigger on some more bits we need. Nothing real exciting - 6V flasher relay, the brake light hydro switch from the bay of e and an order of some bits from 4into1 - gas cap as it was $4.95 for a new one and just the gaskets for the old one cost more, battery strap, and missing tank rubber hold down. all came to $29.95 shipped to the house so that was nice. Small stuff they use USPS flat rate box which is cheap and should avoid any customs crap.

Tally up costs so far, normally I don't but I want to see what the bike ends up costing in total.
Parts - $188.48 so far
other like vinegar, cleaners etc. about another $50
purchase price $300
Gas to get the bike Paid by a work trip LOL = free
Labour doesn't count on this one. Father son time is priceless.
total: $538.48 so far and not too much left to buy, a battery, KPH speedo, tires, paint is pretty Much it, trying to re-purpose bits to make the bags and there will be some metal for the brake upgrade if I can't find scrap. I did find out my boss knows a machinist that lets him take anything out of the scrap bin for free so I may ask him to either introduce us or grab some alloy plate bits for me.
