1975 CL360 Cafe project (Completed for now!)

So VM30 carbs I got from Dime City (supposed to be jetted for CL360) came with a 200 main jet and a 25 pilot in one carb and a 250 main and 40 pilot in the other carb. I didn't find this out untill after riding the bike about 40 miles and adjusting the needles a few times before opening them up. It actually ran better then you would think but it had a huge bog in the mid range.

CrazyPJ gave me some great jetting info and here's where I'm at right now.

Installed 150 mains, 30 pilots and drilled the 1/16th" hole in the "hood" on the primary choke. The bike ran MUCH better right away but still had a little hesitation in the mid range so I moved the needle clip up from the 4th position to the third (middle). That made it better so I moved it up one more and it got better again. There's only one more clip position left (top) but I think I might go ahead and move it up to that one and try it again. I'm wondering if I might need the 145 mains? I'll let you guys know once I get it dialed.

Funny thing happened while test riding, a cop followed me home and pulled up to my drive way as I got of the bike, he just wanted to check out my bike! He was pretty cool and said he has four RD400's and that he liked the bike. Pleasant conversation and he left after that.

Do tell!

I'll be getting some VM30's soon here, and the shop on ebay said they'll adjust the jets/price to what ever.

I know jetting can vary from bike to bike, but i think your numbers would start me off nice.

I moved the clip up to the top position on the needle, that made it better but still not perfect. Next I will drill the hole in the "hood" on the primary choke to .079" and see how that does. I don't want to have to go to 145 mains because once it's revved up it seems pretty good up on top. I will let you guys know what I end up with in the end.

Ok guys it looks like I'm going to have to sell this one to fund the next one. :(

What do you guys honestly think she's worth as she sits. Only things left to do were paint motor and rims then polish side covers and hubs, paint swingarm and she would have been done.

Runs and rides fine as is.
it all depends on who is buying it

Re: 1975 CL360 Cafe project (what's it worth? For sale)

1000-1500 in our area if someone loves it... but i would lean more towards a G

if she was a bigger bike (cc) more but she is only a 360... so that is where it is going to take a hurt...

Re: 1975 CL360 Cafe project (what's it worth? For sale)

The market varies widely man. Just take a look on CL for what others are going for and price it accordingly. It has a lot going for it, so I don't think $1500 is unreasonable for someone that wants to buy something they can ride right away. Be sure to be honest in the ad about any issues the bike has as well. It's just good karma.
