1976 BMW R90/6 "Jimmy Neutron Wanna Be"

Much thanks! Pics hide some flaws as always. There is still plenty of evidence of the 100k miles that the bike has gone lol

The fenders were cut down from a single OEM front. I had gotten it from a friend at barber one year. Cut it, shaped it and mounted it to the fork brace on the front and made a mount for the rear. I am happy with how it turned out, though I plan to make the rear wider eventually.

Do you know where one might procure one of those fenders? I've been looking for one like that with the bead-rolling in it like that for my little CM200 project for a while. What is the width on it? The way you redid that unit to fit your bike was creative and it is a really nice looking fit man.

Sorry man, completely missed this reply somehow! The outside width is just shy of 5" (4 15/16" on an un calibrated tape measure) They are a pretty sturdy fiberglass construction that lend pretty well to cutting and shaping as well. Mine was given to me by an old head here @Kanticoy at barber swap meet a few years back. We all share a spot and junk often gets shuffled around betwixt us. You can find them on ebay, but they are a bit pricier than I would like to spend to cut one up, but searching things like "BMW airhead front fender" or "BMW /5 /6 /7 front fender" could yield good results. If not, the one that @adventurco posted would also likely be a good choice! I know @irk miller also used one on the back of his 360/378 a few years back.

Not a ton to update on the bike, but I'll put what I have on here. I'm not getting as much riding is as I would like to be this summer, as I'm doing the dad stuff this summer. Im a bit north of 300 miles and started to play with jetting on the mikunis a bit. I'm currently at 195 on the mains and 32.5 on the pilots, and it all still seems a bit on the rich side which is a bit perplexing to me.

I also worked up pulley system for the clutch as well. Airheads have a big ol single disc clutch, which tend to have a bit of a stiff pull. I'm far from old, but days of stop and go or in town traffic fatigue my left hand more than they used to. I turned the pulley from a chunk of brass stock that @ridesolo gave me a few years back, and put the rest together from hardware store stuff. The action is impressive, and cuts the pull in half at the expense of doubling the travel needed. You have to adjust the clutch more or less perfectly to get full disengagement and engagement across the travel, but it really feels like a modern hydraulic unit now. I have a few close friends with airheads (all of which I met here on DTT) and I am making a "kit" for them as well, but have no interest in making any more. There is a guy on ADV rider that sells a very similar setup, and I have no intentions of cutting into his market lol

I did mount a set of conti attack classic radials as well, which were a bit spendy, but also really review well, and will hopefully make the bike handle the twisties a bit better. The 705's always impressed me for a dual sport tire, and never had them wash, but they didn't inspire confidence a few times that I nicked hard parts down when coming into a sweeper a bit too hot.

Dude, that is rad. I have seen a similar mod for the VWs.

I'd love that setup on the Guzzi. Traffic is my left arm's worst enemy on that bike. Its a heavy ass clutch pull.
