1978 CB550 Pieces/Parts Hellride

Seat making time. Don’t mind the gap between the rear of the seat and the subframe. That will become more seat.

The next step in seat making is to fill those gaps at the back of the base. The pieces are cut to roughly fit the profile. Duct tape from behind to hold them in place. Then I fill the seams with G/Flex epoxy and brush in a very fine fiberglass mesh that’s used in r/c airplane building. Once the epoxy cures, I’ll sand it all smooth.

Is that an original 550 fender? Looks more.. dirtbike- ish. Looks cool.

Also, how did you figure the profile would match that of the 17" wheel? Determine the amount of arc per inch or something? Or is this just a "I know what im doing' type of thing lol
Looks like 550 F1 to me?

WOW, well done man. I'm going to have to download picture so I can enlarge it then take a better look 8) The longer swing arm should improve handling as well, I always found 550's very 'twitchy' between 115-120mph

Just a lamp. Tariff free. Thanks China.

I searched and searched for a good front fender to go with a 17” wheel. Nothing seemed to work. Finally, I just made one myself. I had a feeling it would come to this.

Small update on the seat. Covered in 1/4” layer of neoprene foam and ready to cover...

Can you hit the corners with a flap disk to ease them over or will you put another layer of thin foam on the upholstery to hide the corners?
Looking good

Stretching leather over the seat will take care of that.

About to crack this nut. No high hopes for what’s inside. I have a 650 motor in Atlanta to pick up, probably to steal the head, or all of it.
