Looking good man. This'll sound like a dumb question - what exactly is vapour hone/blast? A friend of mine has a set up that looks similar to yours Irk which I used to clean up my Comstars - it uses glass bead as the media and air as far as I can tell. Is vapour honing the same but with water instead?

Every time I've mentioned vapour honing here in Montreal I get blank stare replies, as if it's called something else around here.

Yes, it's with water and air. Glass bead is the most common media, since it polishes (peens) the surface. You can also blast with garnet or aluminum oxide to remove material, or soda to clean. You can also combine alumina and glass bead for a little bite but still a polish. Any part intended for powder coat (or paint) should not be glass bead, since it doesn't give the bite needed for the powder.

Water temp depends on the source, but yeah just means water. The vapor terminology comes from the atomization through the nozzle with compressed air.

Oh yeah, that sounds nice. I always turn a little hot in when wet sanding in the deep sink. Feels so much better.

Thanks Irk, wow that's a significant difference. Yeah, my comstars definitely looked like the middle after bead blasting, but that was just with air. Vapour for the win.

Got the engine back together and added an oil cooler. Using a filter housing from a 550. Mocking up where the cooler goes. I’ll need to weld a bung and two hooks to set it right. Ready to fill it with oil and fire it up.

That's what this is. It's not a perfect fit, though, since my 650 has two bottom case bolt locations that interfere. I'm still working out fitment.
