1979 CB750L. My first cafe/brat project. Denver Area

Thanks guys. I still have a few small items to tidy up but I’ve put about 200 miles on it so far. I will probably repaint the tank a very dark green this winter.

Go for it. I was helped along with my build by looking at work other had done before me so it’s only right to help the next guy.

Congratulations on the BOTM nomination mate, well deserved!

Kung-fu grips, in oxblood no less. My man 8)

I know it’s pretty common but it still sucks. I had a hanging front brake and found this pitting during disassembly.

Also this torn rubber sleeve I’ll have to source. I didn’t see it on any of the standard parts sites I’ve been using.

is where i get them

Front brake is done. The local Ferrari shop vapor blasted the parts to match the engine covers they did earlier. Repainted and rebuilt the master and installed a braided line. Rebuilt the brake and am leaving it bare.

The vapor blasted brakes look great. Are you putting any clear coat or similar on to protect the (lack of) finish?

No, I’m leaving them bare. The vapor blasting closes the pores of the metal and the finish is very durable. The engine covers were blasted a long time ago and look like the day I brought them home.

My ass isn’t loving long rides on this machine but my soul sure is! Even went to a car show and got a lot of attention.

Loving the build man. As usual, this is giving me inspiration to get back going on my project.

Couple questions for you:

-When you shipped off your carbs for blasting I assume you took them apart and sent them in pieces? Is it hard to find a vapor blaster?

-Where did you purchase the new rubber carb and airbox boots? Any CB parts sites would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That's a great looking bike man, I'm happy for you. I need to figure out a carb situation as well as a racing idle situation on mine.

I took them apart for blasting because that stuff will get into every passage and you’ll need to clean them thoroughly anyways. I lucked out and have a world class Ferrari shop a few miles from my house that did all my blasting work. https://scuderiarampante.com/

I got a lot of my parts from:
VintageCB750.com
4into1.com

When you search for parts on Vintage make sure you have the right drop menu selected or you won’t find the right parts.
