Thanks guys, you can leave the swingarm in stock location and just manipulate the subframe. The factory setup won't allow to raise it with the swingarm.
Here's the link to the idler. http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-chassis-parts-motorcycle-weld-on-monster-sprocket-chain-tensioner-mon-weld-on-spr.html
Well, as suggested, I created a new rear sub frame.. Here's what I came up with.. Obviously, I have to clean up the welds still, but I was beat after I got it this far.
Haha, those 2 CM's that were posted were done by another member, oldskool.. He posted them for me to view for ideas on a new sub frame.. They are nice though!!
Is that strong enough or are you going to add more bracing? Been trying to figure out how much I need to do after I lose the bunny ear subframe. Looks good though keep it up.
Well, I used Schedule 40 pipe which has thicker walls than the framing that was removed.. I'm not concerned with that, but I am considering a few triangular braces where some pieces are welded together ..Need some more material though.
Small update: In process of painting the frame and wheels. Frame is gonna be a gloss black and the wheels will be all silver with a semi-polished lip. Also starting the polishing of the forks and some other bits. Pics to follow..
I've been tossing around some ideas in my head on overall paint
I'm leaning towards black with a red/silver pinstripe along the body lines of the tank and seat cowl..
Been a while since my last update.. Life got in the way!
Anyhow, I finally painted the frame, swingarm and wheels. I don't have a finished pic of both wheels but the one included shows a before/after when I stripped and painted..
