Thanks man. I'll definitely give that a try.

No problem :D

Btw, join the forums at GsResources. There is a hell of a lot of knowledge there and most people help out anyone as long as you are nice enough. It's where I have learned a lot about my bike.

IT RUUUNNNNNSSSSSSS!!! MUHAHAHAHA!
I feel awesome right now by the way, it is basically like nothing else haha. Pretty proud of myself if I do say so.

Good job dude!

I know how felt when I got mine running. Definitely feels good. Now I have to wait until the shop gets the new jets in for the pod filters.... :-\

What's next on your agenda?

What's next on your agenda?

-Valve adjustment (as well as replace the top end gasket, breather gasket, and strip the crap paint)
-Carb synch
-Replace the tach cable (when I started it, the Tach didnt move so... Figured I'd try it before buying the Acewell)
-Rebuild the brakes (strip/repaint, new pads, hopefully re-use pistons)
-Fix the damn leaky oil filter gasket
-Replace brake lines (hopefully SS lines)
-New tires
-Dynojet Kit
-TEST RIDE. This I cannot wait for.

UPDATE

Finally got around to the brakes today, well the front at least. Popped both the pistons out of the calipers with compressed air like the 4th of July, first one scared the shit out of me. Easy way is to plug the hole where the brake lines goes (in) and blow compressed air into the bleeding screw (out) and keep going till it pops. if you do this method, PUT THE CALIPER ON THE BENCH WITH THE PISTON FACING DOWN. If you don't, the piston will go flying, and probably be deformed from the impact. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, piston will go flying.

Both pistons were free of rust, and quite clean. One seal needs to be replaced, but that is perfect since I only got one by accident. Will also replace the small O-ring in the caliper itself tomorrow. Will soon order SS brake lines for front/back to improve stopping, and the looks.

Wondering what color to powder the pistons. The color scheme for the bike is either red/white/black or blue/white/black. I will probably just go with matte black.

After moving the bike around to the shop I currently apprentice at, I have been getting a lot done. Taking off the calipers, valve clearances, Dynojet stage III, carb synch, etc.

Here is a clip of it running, idling, revving:

Also, I took the front and back calipers off today, completely stripped them, and powdercoated them... RED. These pictures do not do it justice at all. It is just so vibrant it looks great. I did not do these, but I did acid strip/ prep them and then gave them to the guy that shoots the powder. If anyone wants some stuff powder coated, our prices are pretty damn fair... Just saying

UPDATES

-New SS brake lines front and back

Well, after fighting with the front brakes for a couple weeks I gave in and asked for help from the head mechanic at the shop. After bleeding each brake line individually, and switching back to DOT3 the front brakes work flawlessly. And, way firmer as a result :D

As a note to anyone switching to DOT5 and SS lines... Just stick with DOT3/4 and if you have trouble with endless air and no pressure build up, bleed each line from the screw and start at the bottom.

Well, finally got around to powdercoating the tank and emblems. The tank is together, mounted on the bike, and just need to find a line small enough for the vacuum fittings on the carbs and petcock. Then, I will be powdercoating the front end (upper/lower triples, forks, and bars).

TANK IS DONE :D

Grats on getting it running man! Are you gonna continue the same paint scheme, as on the tank, to the other parts of the bike?

Yeah most likely. Been thinking about getting a Japanese sun vinyl for the tank, and possibly vinyl stripes for the plastics. The rims are probably just going to be either gloss red or matte black.

NEWS! Test rode it for the first time last week. It actually did not run too bad, for just a quick run through of the carbs. However, I will be tearing them full apart for a dip in the acid and possibly powdercoat. Still havent decided on color and if I even want to powder the bowl/slide cover.

Checked the plug wires, and were all correct. I will try the bike again tomorrow afternoon if I go to wrench a bit at the shop. Pulled the plugs, sandblasted the tips, and put them back in. Black black black black, so far too rich for the mixture. I will fiddle with that tomorrow as well.

Also, my throttle cable snapped the other day... That was fun. So, my carb tuning ended early. Good thing there is a suzuki dealer down the street from the shop, and I can order it easily.

Alright this is for my own sanity (things to do)
-New throttle cable (not stock, shorter as there are clubmans fitted)
-Drill the top neck bolt (the one that is on top of the steering stem) to fit a pull choke just like the CBs
-Pressure wash the whole bike
-check the exhaust for a leak
-Fork seals/oil change
-New tires (most likely Avons as I've heard many good things)
-New shocks (most likely progressives)
-REARSETS!! I have to find a set to modify to work
-Cafe racer chopped frame?? new seatpan??
-Plug chops/tune carbs/carb synch
-Drill lower triple tree for headlight mount? Thinking about a trick LED light we put on a sportster a while back, but maybe not
-TEAR IT TO BARE FRAME.
-Powdercoat frame, engine covers, wheels, brake disks, pegs, handlebars, U/L triple trees, swingarm, shaft, and everything else I am forgetting.
