ok, so, by far the best tool to shape the foam has been this wire wheel. At least for me. It worked SO well!!

The seat has been upholstered at last! I am quite happy with how it turned out! I told him brown and diamond pattern top stitch to match the grips and he did a great job, I think.

Had to roll the bike out for a few test pics :)

That's really clean work and a good shape and design too. The colour compliments the tank really well too. Bike's looking great Charlie

The only thing I might do is take out the screws he used one by one and replace with stainless ones, maybe add small washers under each one as well.

Looks like he glued and screwed it in. His english is very bad so he wasnt able to answer if they were stainless or not or if they were self tapping screws or what. They do not look stainless. No biggie!. Nice guy though. Seems to do a lot of boat upholstery .... and there sure are a lot of boats here on the west coast.

Hunting season is done ... time to get back to the bike! I was successful getting a nice billy mountain goat and a nice, mature Columbia blacktail up here in BC. Now weather is getting nice and days are getting long and time to play with the bike a bit once again

I added some turn signals that double as tail lights but I find the rear end to be so naked still. Thinking of adding a round tail light.

I cant come up with a good way to attach it. Does anyone have some ideas for adding a round taillight?

The easiest solutions would be:
1. Add a fender and light on top of that.
2. Do a LED strip on the rear hoop

Not really a fan of either option right now. The hoop is a bit overdone. The fender would ruin my "clean" look.

Curious what you guys would do :)

weld a bracket to hoop? drill holes and sheet metal screw the mount in? Strong magnet? *shrug*

A small fender is how I would go, if it doesn't go out past the light very much it will still be clean but allow a good mount for a tail light
 
The light I have. May or may not keep the licence plate mount part.

Havent decided if the light will be down at axle level or not yet.

If it were mine, I'd mount a fender, with the light just below the hoop then the plate right on there. Try it.
 
Another vote for fender. Chop the thing and fit it so that it extends around 6" or so from the hoop - that way you'll keep the clean look of your bike and as a bonus keep the clean look of the back of your moto jacket too
 
Otherwise, if you really don't want to add a fender you could ditch the round taillight and get one of those LED strips. Attach that to the hoop and you're off and running
 
I think i'm going to build something like this. Ordered an LED strip from Amazon, and it was complete crap quality. Will be returning.

This way, i can use the plate as a bit of a fender and maybe add a real fender down the road at some point

Not sure how to attach to hoop yet. Maybe sheet metal screws. Don't really want to weld-on in case i change my mind later on.

Rubber P-clamps work well. Can't remeber the real name but they are a metal p shaped hoop with rubber cover and you can clamp over hoop and bolt plate holder and light.
 
Can you bolt the whole assembly onto the bottom of your seat pan?

Watch out for clearance issues with the plate (and holder) and your rear wheel. On my first build I didn't factor enough clearance in and ended up with a busted taillight and chewed up plate. I had a hard time finding those P clamps Maritime's talking about but eventually found them at Princess Auto, in case you end up going that route -
