1983 Honda 750 Nighthawk

Side covers made, all lights wired up ... ready for the warm weather to get here.

The only things outstanding are:
- paint side covers: still debating if I should go black so they blend in, or paint same color as tank?

- fab up front fender: optional. Whenever I get to it.

- remove the center stand: as useful as it is I hate the way it looks.

Nice job with the side covers, welding tabs onto the frame to attach it was a good move. Now that you've got a thread happening it's easy to see there's more going on with your bike than I realized. I hated the look of my centre stand too, but damn there are times that I wish I hadn't taken it off

a few more in the daylight, as i was taking a new pic for Tim.

gotta get a friend with a good camera and get a few good shots of it in some better lighting

Yup. Add longer lower shock bolts through spools. Enough to hold up an old GoldWing!

This is what I will do when I find a decent stand for sale used around me.

The current stand is also REALLY hard to use. I think the USD fork conversion makes the front end sit down a bit more than stock so sitting it back on the stand is a lot harder now.

at 30% premium LOL, I was looking at shop presses and the identical units between HF and PA were 30% higher here, no reason for it, that was after exchange etc. We get screwed. I can't wait till I can drive the 15 mins away and save that 30% again.

My favorite is when people on forums say things like "just pop by your local XXX shop" .... Almost always not a thing here. And if it is, they deal with other businesses at a wholesale level and have no time for the average joe.

Just finding stainless steel hardware here is EXTREMELY difficult. There is ONE shop i know of which will let you buy SS stainless hardware without making you buy a whole box. And even they didn't have M10 in the right pitch that i needed.

Americans have access to literally ANYTHING. You can get any kind of fastener or tool or part from McMaster Carr at more reasonable prices. Makes me so jealous.

Whereas I live in a $1,000,000 home that would be maybe $500,000 in USA, pay $190/month for insurance on an 8 year old car, that would be maybe $100/month even in Alberta and fill it with gas that is like $1.50 per liter

Why do i even live here......

HA. I understand fully. except for the house thing, here I live in a 250K house that would be well over 750 just hours away. Although Covid has fucked that up too as houses are climbing here and the cost of lumber has quadrupled over the last 18 months so even if you sell at 50% more, it costs 100% more to build a new place.

The housing market here is absolutely mental here right now. It has been for some time, but right now it is beyond belief.
We bought brand new in 2017/2018 paid $914,000 with GST. Neighbour just sold exact same cookie-cutter house 3 doors down for $1,280,000 which was $30,000 over asking price.

Almost every sale nowdays is sold well over asking price and with no subject clauses in the sale. Some people won't even let you view it for more than 15min time slots or come back and have it inspected, none of that.

Here is a simple, run of the mill townhouse which sold for $500,000 more than asking price! This guy paid more on top of asking than most homes around the globe go for outright!

Now the question is who would do that .... well, it seems someone who probably bought their home in the city in the 1970s for $50,000 and now sold it for $3,000,000 and someone who REALLY REALLY wanted this townhouse in the suburbs .... i would imagine.

We're looking to sell our place in Montreal and move to Prince Edward County, few hours north of Toronto in the sticks. Same thing there, market has exploded like never before. Dog piles that some granny just snuffed it in going for $250,000 above asking, zero-conditional offer. Impossible to compete with that. Cash buyers only, would mean selling our place first and then just winging it. Terrible time to be a buyer, quids in if you're a seller

Yep, our market is all being driven up from the ON/AB/BC retirees who can sell for 1.5 M the come buy an acre with 2500+ sf house on the water for 350K. Jim look at NB we're still affordable with acrage fro now at least

Definitely don't sell first. A buddy did that here and now is in a position where he can't buy because things are getting out of hand and he is slowly being priced out of the market. No one cares that you sold your house, unless you actually have the deposit to put down TODAY.

We are looking at our inlaws selling for 350-375 in the hot market then putting up a 2 car garage with inlaw suite on top. Looks like for about 150K we can do a full icf build on our lot with 1017 sf living space and top finishes. Low cost to heat and as an addition to the house we can tie into well/septic and save ton. Making our place worth double the investment too. We'll see.

But, to aid your economy I just ordered a Can-Am Spyder RT Limited. Due to local dealers not willing to make a good deal I am buying it from Chicago with delivery to my door at no charge.
