1983 Honda 750 Nighthawk

But, to aid your economy I just ordered a Can-Am Spyder RT Limited. Due to local dealers not willing to make a good deal I am buying it from Chicago with delivery to my door at no charge.

This is the perfect example of how shitty things in canada are. A canadian product that is cheaper to buy in a different country and then import back into canada.

It just boggles the mind. And I totally get it based on what the local dealerships want for things. And somehow people pay it. You didnt. But they'll just wait a while. Someone will.

I got quoted $70 to mount and balance ONE bike tire by a nearby dealership (sea to sky motorsports). I told the guy I can get 3 and a half truck tires mounted and balanced for that. He just looked at me and shrugged.

And dont think there arent people paying him $150 for the two tires. Lol!

(I just drove a little further to a different town and got them done for $20 each at an independent shop)

Can-Am won't let you do that though. If you walk into a US Can-Am dealer and you tell them you are Canadian they ask you to leave. Can-Am will pull there dealer license if they even think of selling to a Canadian. You have to go used if you want one to import back.

I falsely assumed pidjones was a fellow Canadian and having one shipped back to canada.

That said, I've had friends still pull it off back following the 2008/9 financial crisis period. There was a trusted dual-citizenship individual who, between WA, OR and CA purchased several cars and boats for people here and had them imported with pretty signifact savings.

yep. my FIL bought a 2007 RAV4 dealer demo with 3000 miles on it and after import saved $7K on it. Only shit deal was having to go to USA for warranty work, but that only happened 2 times.

I'm really liking these turn signals that double as brake/running lights!
When i hooked them up to test i realized they have a built-in flasher. So i didn't even have to get a flasher unit for the LED conversion. I just removed the stock one and connected the two wires directly.

Downside: The dash indicator light does not blink now. it just stays lit .... bit weird lol, but i don't care. I'm fine with that.

you could wire the relay just to the dash light to make it blink. The built in flashers in the signals only make it flash. not the whole connection. they are nice!

The only thing i don't have (to be street legal) is a speedometer.

I couldn't find one i liked so i just designed my tach/lights without one in mind and used my hand-held GPS unit mounted to the bars. But it would suck at night because i don't have it hardwired in.

Thinking i might do a compact, bare-bones bicycle speedometer if i can find one that i like.
Something simple like this. Maybe on a "swing out" mount so i can hide it out of view when not needed (like for poser photos lol)

I have the same indicators on my bike and use this relay -

Not exactly this one actually (the one I bought is unavailable) but you should be able to find something similar. Plugs right into the stock harness, and the idiot lights on the gauge flash too

Painted the side covers .... gotta redo the passenger side. Somehow the paint turned out a bit streaky! Weird.

Didnt notice it at all when it was bare paint but the clear really brings it out. Damn. I'm gonna have to redo this one.

Bought some neoprene backed washers to secure it and they seem to work really well. 1/4" Plastic spacers on the back which came with my TV wall mount lol.

I'm happy with the fit but gotta fix the finish on this one.

That is from spraying. With rattle can metalics you need to be careful to spray in a consistant manor and distance etc.

Ya youd think it would be easier than the tank I did with the same color and can ... but I managed to goof it up somehow.

Gonna have to redo the passenger side one

It's because it's flat. the tank has enough curves etc to hide that kind of thing, flatter surfaces will show the issues a whole lot more.

Nice day for a ride. Bike runs well, but my tech not so much.

It's like the tach cable is slipping and dropping rpms then back up. And leaking oil at the valve cover even though I JUST put in a brand new seal for that .... ughhhhh

Any thoughts on the cable?

Any advice for headers going loose? When i first installed i went just tight enough to have the copper gaskets make contact, and maybe a touch more.
I noticed after a bit that the exhaust would leak, so i tightened them up just a touch more.

Today, i got home with a very obvious exhaust leak and noticed both nuts on cylinder #2 fell off and the collar was like 2" down off the block ... what the hell. Am i supposed to be torquiing these down? I didn't think so.

Yeah - tight enough that the collar doesn't fall off and you don't have an exhaust leak anyway
