1983 Kawasaki LTD 440 brat/tracker

done with it for now!!
new paint scheme, now it is time for the weather to improve and test her out.

it's still a low cost built and she showing her age, which i'm totally fine with!
now the Buell needs some attention the get it properly running again!

Tried to start it up, battery died on me.
new battery ordered and on its way.
also played with the height of the rear shocks, liked the heigher stance so i ordered 360mm to change out for the current 330mm shocks.
will see what that will do to the handling behaviour, hopefully a little less chopper handling and a bit more aggressive.

replaced the faulty battery for the new one and;
let there be bright light;

Fresh fuel in the tank, primed the carbs and no leaks.
Drained the oil and checked for fuel and debri. Old oil was still relatively good.
Key on, pressed the starter button and we have a runner!!!
runs like shit; currently, stationary is ok but as soon as the throttle is applied she stalls or idles and revs shoot up.

right cilinder is hot, left is skipping and kicks in later.
spark plugs are ok, checked the gap and spark on both.
So think i'll need to clean the carbs and readjust them, check the valve clearance.
that's on the to do list!!

installed the new shocks, ground clearance and stance impoved, however now the centerstand doesn't properly fit under the bike anymore.
So will need to take that off. ( after maintenance is done)

First miles are put on the bike. She runs great again.

left carb was really lean so i adjust it, and now she starts up easy and doesn’t skip a beat anymore.
next on the to do list is to put some more miles on it, and next winter see if i can get the fuel tank a bit lower on the front. Get it more in line with the rest of the bike.

It has been a while, did some minor adjustments on the bike. Made a heritage badge, refitted and secured the gastank. Adjusted the mufflers so that these aren’t rubbing anymore. Currently she’s running only on 1 cylinder. New plugs are on the way, hopefully a quick fix.
