1984 Honda XR80 SLO Burn Hellride

Ha, yeah there’s space because we’re in a drought and I can put everything outside.

Almost forgot a fender.

Looks great!

The size is somewhat deceptive in most of the pix. The one w/ you sitting on the hack puts it into perspective a bit better.

I’ve got a motor together with a mosh mash of three different engines, including the 100 head.

I also did a heavy cleaning on the Mikuni carb I hoped of avoiding running a Chinese carb I have here. Something I’ve gotten into the habit of doing with the flanged carbs is truing the o-ring face on a surface plate. This one was bad enough I could see into the intake.

What method do you use for the truing?
Tape wet/dry sandpaper to the surface plate, oil it, then patiently push it back and forth longways until you see an even plane of sanded surface. Any gaps or valleys will show up very clearly until it's all uneven. If you're worried about squareness, you can block it on the face of the carb, but I haven't felt the need to do that.

It was pretty tough, but I was able to redo the wiring harness.

I’m a front brake cable and clutch cable away from riding this thing (regardless of a seat cushion). I swapped chrome rims for aluminum rims off a YZ80. That makes the front 17 inches. The front wheel is all YZ. It was an easy swap that only required machining a half inch of the spacer down to 18mm, so it fits into the dust seal.

Did some hot laps in the back yard with my girls. Even the wife took a ride. Just need some seat foam to quick pricking my legs. And no front brake yet. Oh, and it’s a hit with my cattle dog.

This is genius. Though, I fear for the safety of your dog.

I fear for the safety of your girls...Not many more years, and they'll be out doing this., together. LOL
