I think I prefer the previous generation with the bucket light, full trellis frame and a solid-color paint job. Still looks like more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
Man that makes me all tingly inside. I have actually contemplated buying a monster and converting it to a modern cafe. Hell you can pick up a late 90s model for 3 grand all day long. I just love their simplicity.

+1
I was considering purchising one about a week ago, that or one i almost bought a 900ss/cr, i had an idea of what id do with it in my mind, i love the look of the monoposto, so i was going for similar, but when it came down to it, i prefer the experience of building my own little japanese ducati lol.
i love when people go " what kinda bike is THAT', lol. hopefully after a few more sold builds whether it be v-dubs or bikes, il have extra cash for a cool duc.........or awsome tools.lol
I had a 2001 Monster for about a week. A buddy of mine was thinking about trading it straight up for my 04 SV. Unfortunately for me, after about a week he changed his mind. Fun little ride.
Eventually I will purchase one, but there are about 20 bikes that I will "eventually" purchase.
Being a Monster owner for a few years I still like the previous generation better but the new 1100s is really nice. I love the bike and the Ducati community. I would actually like to get an older carbed 900 and get rid of my '02 750. Its just too slow. As of now I plan to always have a Monster in the stable but a legit soprtbike can't come soon enough. When you can only go 115mph on the track it kinda sux.
I've got 12.5s and I've never had an issue with the pegs on my '06 620, I've high centered it in a left hand turn on the little grab stump that sticks out of the side stand though. I took a die grinder to that as soon as I got home.
That 2011 doesn't look any different to me than the one that's in the showrooms today. They're getting more and more Japanese looking all the time, I thought they had learned those lessons from the 999 series.
Looks good to me, although word is they're introducing an 800 version to fill the gap between the 600 and the 1100 Monsters. They just released an 800 Hypermotard here in Australia and its getting rave reviews - bit lighter, more fun (read: 'you can thrash it but it still has good power'), and cheaper as well.
Would love to pick up an 800 Monster. Or an old 900 for that matter.
