2x stroke street tracker - project coming together slowly.

Leftside footpeg has worked out well I reckon.....an amalgum of CBX & ZZR parts have come together well and should work well, with enough room to foot the brake pedal and gear changer.
I like the random loop that sits around the swingarm spindle (which needs shortening about 10cm)

Meanwhile, on'totherside the brake pedal will require some thinking about it seems....

Two options as I see it....either cut n shut the existing pedal, it'll need straightening along the pivot line and curving to clear under the peg.
Or, find a suitable pedal off another bike with an 18mm spline......:)

Further to my previous post I've had a think....and come up with an alternative brake pedal solution using the ZZR pedal pivoting on the footrest spindle, it clears the enginecase and zorst as well as deliveing enough travel from the built in drop link, to operate a rear brake m/c.
Just need to fettle spacers/bushes/links etc.

A tidy solution!

Crazy
Thank you stroker.....I like that the few 'spare' pieces I have acquired come into good use....not quite what I intended but it'll work all the same I'm hoping. I'll see about spacing the leftside peg out a touch, maybe 15mm to balance and possibly align with the gearchanger better too.

Made a bit of time today, trying to sort my shit out as the garage is a proper mess.

Also, stripped, cleaned n painted the inner surround that was corroded.....came out nice :)

I didn't attempt to touch the face as it's a weathered bloom finish and I didn't want to disturb and spoil it.

It's not perfect by any means, but clean enough.

I'll fashion a cover/shroud out of some thin flexi stainless I have purloined.......might even form it around the headlight bowl for a semi integrated smooth look.....hmmm?

My free of charge headlight pod arrived today....mocked it up to see how it'll look....OK I reckon. Going to paint it white to match the bodywork/tank/seat unit etc.

Just need a headlight unit/bezel for it now.

Can you tell which bike was the donor?

A small but significant update....my neighbour, a prolific and experience bike builder/restorer/owner has agreed to build the GT200 lump in January with me helping. The best of both worlds as I really wasn't looking forward to doing it myself....now at least I can say I had my hands in it.

I shall now refine/finish the engine mounts in readiness, amongst other jobs. The engine rebuild is a major part (obvs) and I can rest easy knowing it'll be in good hands.

Think I might get on with the frame clean up now as well.

Snagged a good few bargains at Kempton Pk Bine Jumble (Swap meet for our American friends) so still on course, just slow progress.

Here's my stash
m0RLGhA.jpg

Alloy for brackets/mounts
New 400mm shocks with correct eye/eye dimensions. I know they're not the best but they'll do for now.

YMPHxGI.jpg

Funky rear light which may be used
Rubber bobbins to rubber mount the seat unit
Rose joints for the rear brake brace
Rightside starter/run/kill switch - nice n slim

MZehxoX.jpg

Alternative brake lever
41.5mm Exhaust off cut with the correct bends for the collet extenders

Nhw4sEr.jpg

Various other items which all amount to a very good day out.

Good news: Engine rebuild is ON! I'll clean the cases this week and drop it off to my neighbour next weekend along with all th enew shiny parts I've collected.....if I can find them that is?? :/

Bad news: The CD175 headlamp bowl and surround doesn't fit the pod....poo.

Note: I'm aware the round headlight doesn't match the profile of the pod, but the surround was meant to fit/locate inside the pod with a covering surround that matches the pod shape which I can buy new.

I'd upgraded the headlight to a H4 halogen Koito unit instead of the dull Stanley bowl....wich was a good thing....the fact it doesn't fit is not so good :(

Oh yeah, my tame turner has made me a 43mm rear axle spacer to replace the 53mm which worked out too long??....don't ask!

Nice work! I’ve got a 2 stroke tracker thing I’ve been gathering parts for over the past year. A lot of inspiration here. Keep up the good work.

Cool....thanky ou....if I can help fellow sufferers that makes me feel better ;)

What are your plans...frame, engine running & gear?

Mine’s a little obscure, but it’s a 1974 PDV Gringo frame (which was a copy of a Champion flat track frame) with a 1974 Yamaha SC500 engine in it. The suspension will be two Ohlins shocks out back and a front end from an 04 Kawi zx6. Wheels will be supermoto wires, I’ve got a complete Excel 17 x 3.5 for the front and i’ve got the hub for the rear wheel which I will lace to a matching Excel rear hoop at 17x4.5 or 4.25, whichever I can find. I’m still accumulating parts. The next big pieces are a custom downpipe I’m having made and a Moto Lanna swingarm. I’ve been calling it the World’s Fastest Gringo as they only made a couple hundred Gringo’s and I can’t find anyone with an engine in one bigger than a dt360.

Ah....nice sounding parts bin, MotoLanna, Excel, Ohlins........I checked out Gringos and they look the business. With a 500 lump in that it'd be a beast on the road...or off road? They appear to follow my build maxim - JEEP - Just Enough Equipment to Perform ;)
Your parts list is out of my budget...but I too run Kwacker parts.....footpegs and rear brake lever!

I had toyed with the rear end idea of subframe looping around a guard like a Yam TY but came across the seat unit I have and as I was in two minds anyway plumped for what I had. As I only really plan on road riding I'll fit a subtle front guard painted matt black to save road shit in my face haha!
Have you put together a thread yet?

Your bike will be a blast to ride. I love the seat and wouldn’t change a thing.
I haven’t started a build thread on it yet since it’s just a pile of parts right now. I’m trying to go pick up my front end tomorrow. Once that’s in the shop I can mock up a roller. I’ll probably start a build thread then.
As far as the money... yeah, it’s killing me. I’m such a cheap ass. The most i’ve ever had in a bike before was $1500. I’m already way over that. I’m just buying it a little at a time. It still hurts, just not as bad. But I’ve always done low budget diy builds with whatever was available to me and for the past few years I’ve been itching to do a top shelf build. And it will be a road bike that will hopefully never see real dirt.

I'm hoping the ringadingding will be cool...and that it'll propel me to the shops in double quick time...whilst waving at the ladies enroute ;) hahaha...who da fuq am I kiddin'?

When I started the idea of this build, having just completed the Honda build, I never thought it would be so damn hard....every single parts needs to be made to fit...a much tougher task than just bolting shite on it.

I quite enjoy scrounging around for parts, a day spent at a swapmeet is an investment in time and money, as per my last day out documented up ^^^ there, but would love to have the pocket for a high ticket build at some point perhaps?
My next build will probably be a stock restoration where everything that comes off will go straight back on....no problem :)

I'll keep an eye out for your thread....where will it reside, 'Tracker's ?

It will be glorious! All the skirts will blow up as you fly by. I too have been bit by the ring a ding ding on the street bug. I know better, but I gotta have one.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still scrounging to get the parts as cheap as possible. Everything will be used except for the swingarm, pipe, rear hoop and spokes. And if I can find a used hoop I’ll buy it.

I haven’t decided where to put it yet. I guess tracker works due to the seat and frame, but everything else is going to be cafe racer, even using clip on bars. Probably in the Tracker section since the frame has race history.

Looking good, keep up the good work.......I'll have to get myself to Kempton one day.......I better go by push bike though, taking a van could be a disaster for the bank balance
