2x stroke street tracker - project coming together slowly.

I wonder what this could be? ;) IMG-20200605-WA0001.jpeg

I thought all Honda alloys where tubeless after 1980. My GL1100 front is but the 79 rear isnt
The tyres are tubed type. And sellers state tubes required. These tyres are fitted to new Lexmoto, Sinnis and other brands of 125 & 250cc bikes.....just needing the correct size tube.....shouldn't be an issue tbh.

Ahhh. Gotcha. So few tires these days are tube type. So tubes it is.

Someone call Houston.....I've just been told by someone on FB that 9010 is an off white and not a brilliant white like the wheels!!

Here's the wheels...

I hope they're wrong :/ Won't see them until Tuesday....

Bugger...I reckon the whites don't match :/ Just got the bodywork and tank back, it's definitely off white, but a bit brighter in the sunlight....not how I recall the shadde of white on the wheels.
The wheels are at the bikeshop, not open until Tuesday, but the shade of white is defo an off white, so I'll be chatting to the powdercoater on Monday to suss out why there would be a difference in finish when the RAL code 9010 is the same.

Options: Paint the wheels the same as the tank etc....or powdercoat the tank and bodywork in the wheel white.

Can plastic and fibreglass be powerdercoated?

get them side by each and see how bad it is. May not be too awful. If it is mask and spray the wheels right over thenpowder may be the easiest if youve mounted tires and put bearings in.

Yeah, that's my easiest and most effective option.....tyres and bearing are yet to be installed....so now's the time. :/

Let's see what the powder guy says tomorrow.

In other news, all my indicators light up on the switch and on the correct side too. Ordered an LED flasher unit.

Ran some fuel to the carbs today....all dry...except my test pipe which was a touch too big. So all's good. :)

Powdergate update: There is a definite difference in shades of white, 9010 is creamy whilst 9003 (as I've come to learn) is sharper, as per what's on the wheels already. As the powder guy told me the incorrect RAL number, my sprayer mate went ahead with 9010....came out nice....nice n creamy...yikes!!

So, today I've called the bike shop to pause the tyre/tube install, no problem. Picked up the wheel and, along with a side panel, trotted along to the powder guy...who admits he gave me the incorrect RAL code and has offered a full refund to compensate, which I think, while fair is unfair as he coated the wheels in the correct shade and it's the wheels I'll be keeping.....'that's how the cookie crumbles' as they say.

I'm happy to use him again and recommend too...no hard feelings.

Did I mention I'd mounted the carbs, after fuel testing them of course, and the RamAir filters fit snugly too.

RamAir? I hear you say, yes, it's not lost on me that Suzuki did have a Ramair system, just not on this engine. Cables all work - check, engine side cases fit - check, battery live - check.....do we have a fuel supply? yes - check...hmmm? ;)

Did the RamAir system really work? Seems like a marketing gimmick to me as literally every other air cooled (non fan) motor cools well without a sheet metal shroud. That head has fins for days, its hard to imagine it not working great.

It looked good. If it were any benefit Suzuki would've kept it I suppose. I remember the 1976 GT250 had it.

Still rebuilding the wheels with fresh bearings etc.

Couldn't resist hanging the bodywork on....even though it's the wrong shade of white.

It'll really pop when the decals, stripes and seat pad are added
, but for now I'mreally pleased. IMG-20200611-WA0003.jpegIMG-20200611-WA0005.jpeg:)
