360 swiftly

I just read through all 18 pages and i'm exhausted. Crazy attention to detail, and borderline obsessive carb tuning ;)

Who is this PJ, and how do i go about getting my own starter block-off? And with all the tuning changes in the last few pages, what did you finally settle on for the VM30's?
Hey thanks!
DTT user crazypj pm him and he will hook you up with the plug.
These are the settings I have been running for the past few months. They work pretty well. A little on the rich side, but I am not fouling any plugs.
VM30's on CB360
Main 140
Pilot 22.5
Needle jet P-0 #159
Needle #6DH7
I messed with the float heights as well but don't remember where they are set.

Excellent Project!

I am also going to be trying out your VM30 jet settings when I switch out my P5 to P0's next week.
I ran into the same stall off idle condition when I got my bike running on 6F4's (Which as it looks, may be too rich around 3/8 throttle), did you end up solving that by adjusting your float height?

Bike ran amazing once I got the low end settings, however the P5 and 150 main carbons up the plugs so bad that I have to change plugs after 15 minutes of riding to get a steady idle. Makes me wonder how there are so many folks out there running MUCH richer settings and claiming they work great.

The stumble I had from idle to 1/4 throttle was mostly my clutch slipping. Once that was fixed the carb settings were close. I did adjust the floats, but don't remember exactly what I did. I probably should have documented that somewhere :-\ . Somewhere back in this thread it is explained how float height effects fuel mixture.

I spent a long time trying out jet settings that people said worked well for their 360's, and had no luck at all. I have wondered the same thing.

I had a few new upgrades in the past couple of months. Finally was able to fix my leaking front caliper. Ordered a 304 stainless piston and new seal from MotorCycle Solutions LLC on eBay to replace the pitted chrome piston. That seems to have done the trick!! Also have been working on running 87 octane in the bike. Overall it runs smoother, but now the main jet is a little off. I have to dig through my jets and see what I have laying around that I can try.

BACK FROM THE DEAD!

Its been a long time... Many other projects have pushed my CB to the bottom of the list for the past 4 years. Now with a lot of extra time on my hands, I was able to finish up some modifications and get her running again. About a year ago the bike was pulled out of storage. I attempted to get it running, but being kick only it was very difficult. My plan was to rethink the battery / electronics set-up and put the starter back on. I have had the parts for a while but no time, but being in lock down has given me tons of time!

I didn't want to rebuild my battery box, so I needed to simplify the electronics and find a small battery. I stole the shorai from my Suzuki and got a new combo reg/rec from Sparck Moto. Cleaned the carbs, checked the valves and timing and now it is good to go!!

A lot has changed in the custom bike market since I built this bike, so I will be investigating some upgrades to an electronic ignition system, better headlight, and possibly new gauges.
