'62 Norton Atlas

Coast to Coast
Well, heres my Norton. In the early 90's, I sold my '85 GPZ750 turbo and bought this the very next day. I took the Lucas K2F Comp mag off it almost 10 years ago to be rewound and have never finished it. Its really fun to ride and need to put this on the to do list. Its on kind of a permanent display at the local independant bike shop. He also stores my bobber and picked it up today.

Most likely don't need to rewind the mag, just replace the condensor FOR SURE
99.9% of the time, that is the problem with Lucas mags.. don't use any NOS either
they go bad sitting on the shelf..
Sweet machine, love her good!

Beautiful bike man. I've got an featherbed frame that I'm considering squeezing a Ducati motor into. Any chance we can see some more pics?

Its on display at a dealership. I'll try to get better pics when they move it around. I did replace the condenser and points and it still is hard starting when hot. Can't remember if it was an aftermarket condenser or Lucas. Its pretty cool how the mag case is cam ground with inverted points.

hi, if you need help with the mag i rebuild both bth and lucas mags/gen/regulators...normally if a magneto has never been rebuilt and you add a new capacitor(only good one is a modern kiser propriatory made part also) you will then have issues with the secondary winding if it is not already the actual problem since your new and not leaking capacitor will hold a higher voltage. a lot of people point to the capacitor but in reality it is a bad secondary winding- best to have it actually ck'd,that is why most(shop) rebuilders will not just replace the capacitor...anyhow good luck with the nice ride, joe@ vcycle
