69 CL175

For tires - check out DennisKirk.com. They have a good selection and are the best deal around. Just make sure you get tubes + rim strips too.

Bateman should have everything you need. If not, try giving Les Baker a call - real nice guys. And whenever you pull the head apart, there's a clip-type master link on the cam chain. Throw it away and get a new one (should be a D.I.D. link). And be extremely careful about putting the cam chain back on the crankshaft! If it's not lined up right it will come right off.

Motorcyclesuperstore.com was absolutely fantastic to me.
I got a set of bridgestone spitfires for like $115 with Free Shipping!
No other store could touch that price.

Thanks for the advice.

That sounds like a good deal to me! I just need to figure out what the hell i'm going to do with these nasty rims.

What sprockets are you guys running? I'm not going to lie I am fat lol so I don't know if it would be possible to get the 175 up to highway speeds.

www.sprocketspecialists.com has rear steel sprockets in 44, 49, and 52 teeth (can't remember what they have in front). Right now I am running a 16 - 43 f/r and I want to drop it to the highest gearing possible. I weigh about 175 (pound per cc!). Did you get to ride it when you got it?

I did get to ride it, but it wasn't running nearly as good as it should. I was surprised at how much power it actually had. I don't know too much about sprockets and gearing which is why I was asking. I weigh 230lb eh i'm working on that too.

What sprockets were on it when you had it? I know the 16-43 will get it to move me pretty good. It's kind of a personal preference. My biggest advice is to keep the front the same size and change the rear as needed. Just because if you watch the chain around the front sprocket, it has to work pretty good around that small of a diameter already.

As far as I know they are the originals. Everything was original on the bike. The only thing that looked new was the battery and the shoes.

Oh, ok. SprockSpecialists.com has the original sizes listed at 16 front and 39 rear or something. If you clean up the rear sprocket a little bit the tooth count should be stamped on it (or count the teeth). Both bikes I got didn't have the 39 tooth sprocket though.

Wow it has been a while since I have posted anything. I haven't really got much done, but ordered the electronic ignition. I am going to have to go budget on everything. I will be doing a rattle can paint job. Hopefully I will find more time and motivation to get this done. I sourced out a set or fzr600 rearsets that I am going to make work.

Frame looks good man - I can understand the "want to ride" feeling.

Thank you. It seems like I will never finish this project. I get one thing done and then realize I have 100 more to do.

Still working on painting the frame and little parts. I bought a 14.99 bead blaster gun from harbour freight and used baking soda in it. It worked well enough to get the grease, rust, but isn't strong enough to pull paint completely off. That should speed up cleaning the engine. I think i'll just blast it and give it a quick wipe down. I got my electronic ignition from Les in and rebuilt the stock Keihn carbs. I just need to clean up the engine and throw it back together. I'm waiting for more cash to pick up a new coil and get/mount some tires.

Well here is some more pics. She looks good from far away.

It is kind of like beer goggles. This is what happens when you say "Fuck it!" kids.

I dig the frame color. I don't think anyone will blame you for getting it rideable and focusing on pretty later. If I had everything to do so, I'd do that myself. :)

Yeah, i'm hoping to have this finished by October. The frame color is VHT rattle can sunburnt copper.

Its not looking good for the October dead line. I haven't done anything on the project since my last post. I haven't had time and/or money.
