72 CL100, Piglet

Re: Piglet 2.0, 72-CL100-Going OFFFF THE GRID!

Finally! Metric U-bolts arrived to finish the fab of the Highwaybars/bump protection/stick-crasher bars.
Greg is spending this weekend to weld everything up.
While Em Bob and I work on fun misc jobs - installing clutch discs w springs and a bunch of odds and ends stuff

Also, scored a sweet NOS foot peg bracket. 8) 8) To replace the broken-braised one. FTW
Greg and I plan to beef up the week spot of the new one. As most I find have been broken.

I just got the best idea ever. Since I got nothing but time and nothing else going on...yes, thats sarcasm.

Rach is gonna teach me to use her sewing machine.

Gonna look at making a custom seat cover. ;D

That's pretty damn sexy.

Thanks, haha- Exactly what Im going for..."Sexy Piglet" ;D

Ordered Rachel a new Singer yesterday evening.
I gave her this machine in the video 30years ago, for Christmas. And it just doesn't have the power needed for all this thick stuff.

So new Heavy Duty Singer arrives Thursday. Hope I will get seat cover done over the coming weekend.

Re: Piglet 2.0, 72-CL100-Going OFFFF THE GRID!

Is that an ordinary sewing machine or heavy duty?

Re: Piglet 2.0, 72-CL100-Going OFFFF THE GRID!

Did you go new "new" or new to you? There is all kinds of good used HD singers out there with parts available etc. I got one for 75 bucks that sewed my leather seat, and a bunch of other stuff so far. The right needles are really important though. More so than the machine.

New NEW w leather needles too.

Re: Piglet 2.0, 72-CL100-Going OFFFF THE GRID!

Ok good, I was trying with just HD needles, it sucked, I was breaking them all over, after I got the right leather needles it went through like butter. that's the machine I got for 75.

Re: Piglet 2.0, 72-CL100-Going OFFFF THE GRID!

Bth regular point and ball point needles. Im not sure the difference...but Rach may know.

Re: Piglet 2.0, 72-CL100-Going OFFFF THE GRID!

That's cool stuff. I haven't done a seat for probably 15 yrs, last one I did by hand which took a while ;D

Re: Piglet 2.0, 72-CL100-Going OFFFF THE GRID!

Yup Rach knows. She says ball points NOT for leather. Proper leather needles have a cutting point.

yep, once I ordered a set and got them they are very different from the others I had. there was no local supply here and I got antsy to sew and broke about 5 needles and only got 2 seams done before I gave up and ordered the right needles. Then I finished the whole seat without breaking another. Live and learn.
