Re: 72 CL350 Build - almost done -lots of pics

I know what you mean, I'm always like that as well on the first start-up and first run.

Hell I understand you! You don't trust your mechanic skills fully. But you will. Be safe and wear protections!!

Oh I fully trust my mechanical skills without a doubt, but its still a nervous excitement on a first start-up after a rebuild, if I never felt like this I'd be questioning why I'm doing this to begin with, its an awesome feeling. I even have this feeling taking the bike out for the first time after its winter nap.

Re: 72 CL350 Build - almost done -lots of pics

It would have been done earlier but I ran into a small problem a couple of weeks ago when a friend and I finished it up and did the first start up. We got it running and then he says "I think we have a problem". The head gasket was puffing smoke out two sides! I had to pull the motor and rebuild it again. Bummer but all is good now.

Love the bike! If you don't mind constructive criticism, it seems like it's missing something in the back. I'm shocked to be saying this but it might look better with a small fender or more visible tail light or something.

No fender between the rear tire and those velocity stacks? I'd sure want something to keep the rear tire from flinging grit down the carb throats.

I don't mind the criticism. Just didn't really like anything I saw out there and didn't want to have a fender. I guess it's just personal preference more than anything.

There are screens down inside the VS. I'm not to concerned.

Wanted to give a shout out to my friend Nate for the help in getting it completed! Thanks man!

Finally got the exhaust completley wrapped and license plate mounted. Not sure if I like the plate mounting but it can easily be changed.

Mike i hate seeing the leaves on the ground!!!! bike looks great man, i am not sure if this was brought up yet, but any plans for some type of rear fender on that sucker?

Joe, it was brought up about the rear fender a few posts back, I just choose not to have one.
