73 CL350 project

Thanks guys.

Looks like the bike has already found a job. It landed a professional photo shoot with two models for the end of October.
The bars were bought on eBay. They are wide. I like them that way.

Re: 73 CL350 project. Broke down on the side of the road w/pics!

So I was riding today since the weather here in Az is damn near perfect! I ended up breaking down about half hour into the ride. Have you ever broke down, realized what the problem was and went "Oh yeah....I have the part right in my tool box on the bike!". Yeah, well, that didn't happen today. thought I had put 15 amp fuses in the box. I didn't.

Called the wife and she fired up the 72 Ford F100 and loaded me up. Took a few pictures while I was waiting. These pictures show the headlight bezel in white. Thought it looked better than the black.

Nice bike and I love what you did with the seat. Did you buy that seat cover or is it homemade? I would love to know more about it because I'm planning doing something similar with my cb350...

Thanks, I shaved the seat down to give a more stream lined look and then had my upholstery guy make a new cover.

I just painted another set of CB wheels and "attempted" to copper plate the spokes myself (first time trying). It didn't work out but it did make the spokes turn to a more aged look which I ended up liking. I did plate the brake hardware and headlight bezel ring. I didn't polish them out. I wanted to leave it dull and old looking.

thx for the information, I was hoping it was bought because I can't find decent seat upholstery guys in my neigbourhood... :-\

Re: 73 CL350 project. DONE!

So, I finally got the bugs worked out of this bike. After everything was done. I was getting to much oil blow by out the breather. I ended up taking the engine out again and installed new rings. Everything back in and buttoned up the bike runs great!

After going back and forth with the color of the headlight bucket. I settled on keeping it off white like the tank. While the engine was out and dissasembled I painted it black. I messed around with copper plating and did the headlight ring and brake linkage. To a professional it turned out like crap. To me, it turned out perfect. Looks aged.

Anyways, I am now riding the shit out of this bike daily and have moved on to a 74 Yam TX500 for my next fun ride.

My little girl already made claim to this bike (that's why she is standing in front of it). She wants to ride it when she is in high school. Her mother says it isn't going to happen. Guess I'll save that argument for another 10-11 years. ;D

Your gettin pretty darn good at this stuff.

Thanks buddy. I felt like you there for a while having to pull the engine. I had to pull it twice to get the damn thing right. ;D

Dude it looks awesome.
I was skeptical of the brown seat, but that copper plated headlamp ring really ties it all together in my opinion!
