Fist problem... looks like it happens all the time to these CB/CL's

Cracked triple tree. I see DCC has replacements that look beefy as hell, but at $130 is it really worth it? Not to mention the $40 more for Speedo and Tech mounts. Any suggestions on cheaper alternatives?

What ever you do DON"T TRY WELDING IT!!!, one of my racing colleagues decided to weld up his triple, we buried him later the same week - and no I'm not making this up. Your triples are subject to large stress loadings; so $130 is a good price to guarantee the performance of a vital part of the bike.
As a last resort you may be able to buy one in good condition from a dismantler's, but check carefully for crash damage first.

The problem is , stupidly, guys dont use torque specs and over tighten them. they dont need much. So, check your manual. Before you tighten any bolt. I printed the sheet and it hangs in the garage. The lesser value is for lubricated bolts.

Hell I think $130 sounds real reasonable also. Take a gamble on ebay if you want cheaper.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have also considered going with a newer front end altogether. I would like to have disk breaks. I will take breaking performance over originality any day. I haven't done the research to see what size I would need. I assume I am going to need something with about the same tube length and angle.

Any suggestions on swap ability?

Just pick the front end you like and reuse your steering stem.

If your not going to use you front drum setup I would be interested in taking it off your hands.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of it, but it will be a while. I wouldn't want to get rid of it until I find a suitable replacement. You are the the top of the list. ;D

Thanks sir....I am in no hurry! If you see my build thread hasn't been posted on in over a year. :-[
