Starting a Goldwing Project to pass the time during Covid19 closures. This will be my second build project, first was a KZ650. I have found working with Brian at Speedmotoco.com is extremely helpful in getting the bike in my mind to come to life with the donor bike I find.

Great to see another early gl here, what’s your plan? Looks like it’s in decent shape already

Modern Electronics with a M-unit, led signals, bars and such, clean it up, maybe paint it and get it going to the next rider. How long you had yours?

Bought mine last summer but only got to starting work on it last month. The wiring on mine has seen many better days so that’ll need a look at for sure - I’ll be interested to see how you get on with the m-unit install on yours. Have you installed one before?

Nice looking bike, is it a runner?

Stopped running because of a short in the wiring, that is why the M-unit plan. I have never installed one but a couple of friends have.

Beware that it has a permanent magnet alternator, so the regulaor is a shunt type. Looks to have the "unobtanium" grab bar - hang on to that! These have point ignition to start, but can be switched to Dyna. Auxiliary lighting unit gives problems on 75-77, so many bypass it. First thing to do is change the belts (Amazon or NAPA) as it is an interference engine. So many ways you can go with them, and they can be real mile eaters.
