78 CB750k wheel swap to matching sizes

if i'm not mistaken, the k8 comes stock with 17" rear, 19" front wheels. I found a 19" wheel on ebay. In theory, I can unthread it and swap out the old hub with the current rear hub with new spokes, right? If this isn't a good idea, wont work, or there is an easier solution, let me know!

So you want a 19” rear? Is the new 19” wheel a rear wheel (doubtful)

The angles on the spoke holes will be wrong if it is actually a front wheel. The hub diameters and widths are different changing the angle of the spokes.

Find an 18” rear CB750 wheel. Chances are it will bolt right up. I expect the 17” rim you have now is not stock. I believe the 78 CB750 came with an 18” rear.

If you really want a 19” rear wheel you should replace both rims with new aluminum rims and custom spokes from Buchanan.

Problem is finding 40 hole rims to match the Honda hubs. Not as common as 36 hole wheels.

I've done 17/17 front/back lacing a rear GL1000 rim to the front hub with a custom spoke kit from Buchanan. If you have a steel 17" rear rim, you can lace the alloy GL1000 rim to the CB750 hub with the same spokes.

This is not an uncommon swap in the Honda 750 chopper world. Most use a 19" drop center Harley rim and get spokes from Buchanan. Buchanan is familiar with the swap. The rims are stock on the front of Sportsters and some of the big twin models. The big issue is finding a decent 19" rear tire. I have a 19" on the rear of my Evo chopper using the HD 19" rim. I am running a 4.00 x 19 inch Duro tire and it fits the rim fine. Most tires available are either vintage tread or they are have a flat profile for sidecars.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Good to know that Buchannon is the place to go for spokes. I'm not set on 19's per se, i'm more so just looking for the cheapest solution to get matching sizes front to back for stance reasons. Seems like getting 40-spoke 18's might be the best

18" front and back would be nice on a 750. BMI Karts has some 18" NOS 40 spoke rims at a decent price. They are part of the Dixie buyout and were originally meant for Harleys. I think they are available in both chrome and black. https://www.bmikarts.com/18-x-215-40-Spoke-Hole-Chrome-Rim-for-Harley-Davidson-1935_p_5655.html

Thanks for the tip, that’s actually an unbelievable price. My only thing is that it doesn’t say the spoke/nipple sizes. Any insight into that?
