I put my chain on, hooked up the clutch and sprocket cover last night. I also bled the brakes. It moved about 4 feet under its own power. Whoo hoo. I am working on the rear brakes tonight. I am concerned however with two small bubbles that have formed on my tank. I think it is weeping fuel. I used a slide hammer to pop out some dents and I must not have sealed up the welds good enough. I need to figure out a way to seal it up or I will be stripping down the tank to repair it. I really dont want to do that. Any suggestions. I also hid all my wiring and mounted my seat with a nice rubber seal.

Love your rear sets, the rubber seal is pretty cool, Thats unfortunate that your paint bubbled. My dad had the same problem with a car ( bigger bubble tho) and he use a very small and sharp needle and popped it and it went down. Very hard to notice if that, Good Luck.

Thanks! Yeah I dont think its a big deal. If I cant fix it, I have more paint/clear. Regardless I have off work thursday so...weather pending she will be hitting the road!

Regarding the tank problem. Get yourself the sealant that comes with the Kreem kit. You can buy it separately, rather than buying the entire treatment. It fixed a slight split on the weld on my Bonneville about ten years ago when the rear rubber mount went south. Any motorcycle shop that deals with either Tucker Rocky or Parts Unlimited should be able to get it. If you need, I can dig up the part numbers when I go to work tomorrow.

The sealant is like a thick vanilla milkshake. Normally you put it in after the A treatment (essentially oxalic acid) and the B treatment (which neutralizes the acid), and the tank dries out.

Thats sounds like what I need. If you have a part number that would be very helpful. Thanks.

That's a KZ440 twin? No way.

Excellent transformation and nice attention to detail.

I see that you haven't put the spring on your kickstand yet, when I did it I had todo some touch up and I needed the help of someone esle to put the bolt in while I pulled down on it. Hopefully there isn't a common sense way to put it on, because I would look pretty stupied. But this might seem like a dumb question and believe me I tried looking it up, but what is the purpose of putting a block of wood under the kickstand?

It uses two springs, one on the front and one on the back. The one on the back is on. I use a pair of needle nose to put it on. I you put the spring on with the stand in the "up" position there will be much less, or no tension on the spring which makes it much easier to put on. The block of wood was just to make the bike sit up to make it easier to works on, thats all.

Yeah...please don't use Kreem, I've seen so many tanks just destroyed by poor installs. POR-15 and Red Kote are MUCH better...

I rode the kz for the first time in nearly 3 years. It was great. Everything worked and nothing fell off or exploded............yet ;) .
I only rode it a mile or 2 near my house. But it ran surprisingly well. If felt very light and fast with its new trim weight. It felt great to give her one kick, pull out of the garage and head down the road on my creation. I am working on a video. Stay tuned.
