79 KZ650 SR / GSXR Mutt

Last night i finally got to spend some QT rerunning wires and making things look pretty. Glad thats over with for the most part. I have been debating what to do with the headlight for awhile now and it came to me while looking for a bolt. I noticed my headlight has a threaded bottom mount. So i used some spare L shaped hangers i had in my bag of tricks and came up with an offset mount. Not sure how i totally feel about a 7" offset light at this time... but for now it will work because it saved me $$$$. Tonight i just need to tighten things up and get the front brakes bleed, and that should be it.(fingers crossed) Hopefully by midweek I will be rolling her out the garage for the first test ride!!!!

I am going to have to come up with an idea for a cover for the right side of the light... It is way to open in the front at this point in time. Tonight I am also going to toss around the idea of mounting a custom light to the headlight for a Neutral indicator. Where the bolts for the old mounts are located.

It's been awhile since i have updated this, In the past month i have got everything back together and running. Took it for a ride down the road with no brakes and only one foot peg but she ran through fourth gear just fine before i got scared adn fred flinstoned it in my house shoes lol.. Came pulling into the driveway noticed the front tire was low, filled it up that night then came in the garage in the morning only to find out my tire flat and it ended up being the "new front rim" is bent so like a gay christian it is getting sent down south to be straightened out. The good news is it runs, and i did get that neutral indicator light on it and it turned out pretty swell!

Love the build...I just picked up the same exact bike and was going to take a similar path on my build.

Have any recent pics? I was wondering how the rear fairing turned out and what modifications were required to get the fairing and seat to match up the the shorter SR frame.

Hi, I'm planning to do the same front end swap. Could you tell me if the GSXR steering stem is the same length of the kz650?
