'81XS650 used to be a chop. ♡♥♡♥♡

It's only ridiculous when you list them all out.

Looking in my garage all you see is a big fuckfest of motorcycles and parts.

Or ten.

Mike, looks like it's coming along. Wish I had time to come out and spin a wrench with ya.

Just a friendly neighborhood reminder that this should have had at least one shake down run by now...

Looks like that'll be a decent machine. You may want to go ahead and get 5" seat springs ordered, those smaller ones look better but don't work as well.

Cast wheels is cheating... how is anyone supposed to come pick on you on the side of the road if you can just plug a tubeless tire and keep riding...

Re: '81XS650 chop. ♡♥♡♥♡

Thanks guys. Wasn't able to get a damn thing done this weekend. Just need to strip and paint the engine mounts and finish cleaning the lump up a bit.

Re: '81XS650 chop. ♡♥♡♥♡

And the 3" springs work alright with my 200lbs. I think the 5" have too much "bounce".

It's looking good Yinz! I thought you were running some USD forks on it tho?

THANKS!

Originally I did have some nice USD forks mounted up, but let's be honest... That's a real waste of high end components. They went to a good home and I went with some stock forks. Next year I'll probably rebuild them with updated internals but for know they'll do the trick.

Re: '81XS650 chop. ♡♥♡♥♡

Some folks have asked about ride position with the bars/mids. My foot is about 4" too low, but you get the jist. I'm 5'8" with boots on and just a hair under 200lbs. Anyone much taller than me would likely hate the mids. I know my brother in law couldnt ride my last chop (he's 6'3" and about 230) with mids more than a couple blocks without his hips killing him.

Just some info for folks thinking about building something similar...

You should swoop your hair to the left and use a little more gel

The bike looks good though, get it all the way put together already
