Science is true whether you believe in it or not.
Hey, all.
Just joined the forum. I am enjoying the resurgence of the cafe racer style. I think the show on Velocity is fun to watch, and is actually responsible for some of the return of the cafe racer. The chopper craze is sooo yesterday, but people still want to customize motorcycles to have a unique and fun ride.
I have a custom bike shop in Philadelphia. I do more general repairs more than anything else. I tend to specialize a bit in old bikes. It seems that there are few people who will even work on the old bikes. I have a '68 BSA 650 scrambler in my shop right now. The owner had trouble getting it to start and it wouldn't keep running. I had it purring like a kitten and starting on first or second kick after working on it for 10 minutes.
I do all kinds of metal fabrication, painting, and powdercoating.
I just bought a 1980 Yamaha XS650 Special. Nice shape except for dirt, and some corroded aluminum. Chrome looks good as far as I can tell. (Too dirty to see.) I am going to set the bike up for touring. I have distressed brown leather saddlebags, and some old brown leather to cover the seat. I'll be doing it in a
steam punk theme with copper plating, wood, and brass.
