That was what speedway and grass track bikes used before K&N were developed. Riders said it worked well as dirt build up fell off. Nylon stockings were probably more readily available in 60's though? Open end was fitted over bell-mouth and toe end stretched to rear of bike then just tied off. It didn't seem to affect airflow, even around curved edge of bell-mouth

I don't have Murray's carbs yet so can't answer your question. On the current stock Keihin CV carbs I used 90 main and 120 secondary.

I know, I meant, when you have them, I would be more than curious about the jetting of the Murray carbs.
 
the jetting from my carbs wont transfer to a stock body mikuni carbs

i make several mods to teh carbs themselves and that changes the jetting

and why would you be asking for proprietary jetting info

when you could ask me direct?

or do it right and buy a set yourself
 
sorry if that feels petty but i spend a lot of time on research and development

flow testing and dyno time as the intakes are as important as the carbs to running characteristics

then i pay drivers to road test them so i can gather data and i have to build one or 2 of every bike

to do the dyno and drivability tests on my back yard currently has about 40 bikes in it that are test and development units

i spend 10 -15k minimum per kit plus jig costs

so when people come along and casually ask if they can have all that info for free

an dont even bother asking me so i can explain i get a little twitchy and feel like someone is trying to steal my intellectual property

I understand where your coming from, I spent a load of time on cB360 carbs to find modifications that work and modifying 350,360, 450/500T is pretty much my only income nowadays
Pete12, the jetting isn't really proprietary, but, without carb modifications it just won't work on stock carbs. I don't mind telling anyone that stock pilot and primary main jet work best on a slightly modified CB360. with K&N or Uni filters Secondary main jet though,anywhere from 105 to 125 depending on exhaust length and back pressure. Carbs won't work above ~4,000 rpm without modification though. That's really the proprietary/intellectual property bit

I was skirting around the issue, but even if I knew I would not have disclosed. When the time came I would have referred the person to CXMAN aka Murray, who would have responded as he did. I am fiercely opposed to acquiring information or products from small business owners that put their souls into their work for no benefit to them. If Murray had produced a manual that described the information sought and sold this manual, this would constitute IP. The physical carb is no different. If I copied this manual and gave or sold it to someone else...would it be right...wrong? I'm not an ambulance chaser so I don't know. But I know it wouldn't pass the pub test.
 
I live on the other side of the world. Never met him. Just bought my first product from him. I'm a self employed 57 year old motorcycle enthusiast amateur. Now you know a little more about me. But what I just told you is all you know. And of course you know my views on what things should be shared and what should be paid for. Who the fuck are you? Nah no worries, not that thin-skinned myself.

It's either VM34s or TM33s, which I already have at home. As I will end up having to build him a nice new stainless exhaust modelled after the one on my XS-Sidecar, I am not certain that I would get very far with the stock jetting on your carbs anyway - there's a few ideas I want to pursue...
