Anodizing --- Anyone have any experience doing it???

Hey Boys,

I'm gettin ready to re-assemble my motor and instead of painting my cylinders I was thinkin about andodizing them.

Simple reason being that i've got a 2-stroker and they rely heavily on the cooling fins to keep the temps in check, and just figured that to get a really nice finish with paint it might hold in too much heat.

Have any of you done any anodizing??? I have seen a few posts on here in regards to zinc plating but I have never attempted anyting like this but i figure with a bit of direction I cant be that hard.

Do any of you know where I could buy a kit to do it?? or how to build one???

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks boys, Joe do you think that the coating wont hold in too much heat????
I have no problem spraying them in urethane that will yeild a very simmilar finish but i was concerned with holding in too much heat and motor not coling properly.
I know that the kawi 2 strokes haw a bit of trouble with the center cylinder getting too hot, my plan is to get the jetting dialed in correctly and then bump the center cyl up a bit and run it a bi richer to try and keep it cooler.

Is the coating you do very thin????

Hey freerideordie have you had any experience with anodizing?? The guy in the article you posted noted that cast aluminium does not anodise well.
I'm just trying to get some feedback.

Ideally like anyone here I want a really nice finish without comprimising the rideability and useability of my bike.

Thanks
