Anyone ever try one of these helmets?

I got hit by a car while on my bike as a kid too. I wasn't wearing a helmet and hit my head, and now I'm on DTT. Let that be a warning to all of you!

Seriously though, you lose 1/2" of skin hitting the asphalt at 44 MPH, and 45% of all helmet impacts occur to the face. I'm not going to be the ATGATT police as I ride in jeans and work boots all the time, but at least wear a full face helmet, gloves, and a jacket.

Hey, I don't give a shit one way or another about your face. Best luck man :)

Thanks for understanding guys. I need to be friends with more people who don't give a shit about my face. I am in no way being sarcastic either.

On the other end of the spectrum, I passed a guy wearing a full face Shoei on a Honda Express today.

its probably something his mom makes him wear

I figured DUI on the real bike and this is the penalty ride until he gets his license back...or his Mom lol.

Just go with a Bell Custom 500. For the money, you can't beat it. I think they're the best 3/4's out there. And they look great for the vintage stuff. For full face, Bell Vortex or better. Anything SNELL really. But the Vortex is the cheapest in that area.

ACTUALLY, I'm wrong. HJC came out with a sub $150 SNELL Full Face recently. Might be worth checking out.

I like that helmet. I was actually choosing between that one, the Custom 500 from Bell and one from Nexx.

Its comfortable.. Feels sturdy and I feel (and seriously) hope this thing stands up in the event of an accident... But it still isnt full-face so my only concern is I did not provide enough protection for myself.

Don't worry. Statistically, you're only likely to land on your jaw every other time.

I usually try to stay away from the helmet debates, most people have already made up their mind on the topic and are not easily convinced otherwise. However, since you did express concern about the level of safety a 3/4 helmet provides I will say this. If your reasoning for wearing a helmet is to protect your self, then to me there is no other choice than a full faced helmet. I admit 3/4 helmets look cool but, just as I do not ride bikes to "look cool" I do not choose my helmet style with "looks cool" as a primary factor in the decision making process. With a 3/4 lid you are gambling that 25% of your head ( actually closer to a full 1/3) will never come in contact with the asphalt, a part of the bike, part of another vehicle, mailbox post, etc. etc... Hope this helps your concerns.

I wear a full face helmet because I can barely walk around my own house without hurting myself
