Might be headed that way for a week. Any suggestions on attractions, or eateries?

TIA.

Been a LOOOOONG time since I've been there. Summer of 1992 was spent on the Navajo Nation, and I got down to Phoenix for an outdoor Blues Traveler / Allman Brothers concert. Got a tattoo at the Flying Squid in Phoenix but I think they're long gone.

Get out into the Painted Desert / Petrified Forest if you can.

But if you're stuck in town, I'm sure you'll find all the bike washes in town and update us all with pics ;)

Bob's salvage yard is, I believe, the biggest Japanese bike yard in the US and worth a visit, even if you aren't looking for anything in particular. Great guys. It's the Bob's on Elwood -- Bob's on University is a Harley shop (that also has some cool old stuff in there). Phoenix was killer for finding old bikes to fix up -- I lived there for 20 years. There are occasionaly swap meets for bikes, I think the Shriner's one is in March but you can google to check. There's a decent one in Casa Grande as well.

It's a huge city so there is tons of stuff to do. Tempe is where the university is and college-y nightlife. Casey Moore's is a killer neighborhood pub. TT Roadhouse is in Scottsdale and it's a sort-of moto oriented bar. Tons of places to eat, but among the best Thai food I have ever had is Glai Baan. Expect a wait or make a reservation with more than 5. Good Mexican food, good Vietnamese food. Bikini Lounge is a killer dive bar. Valley Bar is decent too, and sometimes decent bands play.

Musical Instrument Museum, Pueblo Grande Museum, Heard Museum...

Make yourself an appointment at Skydive Arizona, just south of Phoenix in Eloy. One of the best dropzones in the country. Get some air ! If you end up coming through Albuquerque I'll feed and beer you.

Thanks for the input guys. The Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, and Grand Canyon are on the list. Will have to add Bobs and the lava tubes. I'd love to try skydiving, but not sure that'll happen :p
Kelly, we'd be flying in to Phoenix, but for food and beer, a road trip could happen :D

We did the Grand Canyon and painted desert/petrified forest last May. Dress warm as they got snow at the canyon the week after we were there. Stayed at the Grand Canyon Railroad Hotel on their package train trip/ two nights hotel and meals. Enjoyed it and the three hours at the canyon was enough - it kind of over-whelms. Painted Desert was beautiful and the Petrified Forest a lot more than expected. In-between the two, you just have to stop by Winslow and get a picture standing on the corner. I do NOT recommend the Best Western in Holbrook!

The Grand Canyon is a must see. It's incredible, spend a whole day there if you can. Lots of hiking and different historic points along the rim. I don't advise trying to pet the Elk though. Meteor crator is pretty amazing too but it's only about an hour or two visit.

I'll be in the Phoenix / Tempe area all next week for work. Was there last year really dug it.

Pedal Haus Brewery by ASU was really cool.
Culinary Dropout is fantastic.
Four Peaks Brewery was good too.

Looking forward to those places again.
